1)[line 2]מתנותיהMATNOSEHA (ZERO'A LECHAYAYIM V'KEIVAH)

(a)Whenever a person slaughters cattle, sheep or goats (that are not Kodesh), he must give to a Kohen the Zero'a, Lechayayim, and Keivah (the foreleg, the [lower] jaw, and the maw or abomasum, the last of a cow's four stomachs) (Devarim 18:3).

1.The ZERO'A consists of the two upper sections of the right foreleg, until the shoulder blade;

2.The LECHAYAYIM consists of the lower jaw, from the joint where it is attached to the upper jaw until the thyroid cartilage, including the tongue;

3.The KEIVAH consists of the maw together with its Chelev and the curdled milk that it contains, but the Minhag of the Kohanim is to let the animal's owner keep the Chelev and the curdled milk (Chulin 134b, SEFER HA'CHINUCH #506).

(b)Although one must give the Zero'a, Lechayayim, and Keivah to a Kohen, they may be eaten by a non-Kohen.

(a)King Yehoram, who followed in the footsteps of his wicked father Achav, joined forces with the king of Edom, and, together with his brother-in-law, the righteous king Yehoshafat, set out to attack Meisha, king of Moav. Moav, a vassal state of Yisrael, had been paying a heavy annual tax. However, upon the death of Achav, Meisha broke away and ceased paying the tax.

(b)The kings decided to travel the route of the Desert of Edom, but on the way they ran out of water and found themselves without a drop for the soldiers or for the animals. Yehoram began to lament that HaSh-m had gathered these three kings together to deliver them into the hands of Moav, but Yehoshafat asked whether there was no Navi in the vicinity. When one of the servants of the king of Yisrael mentioned Elisha, he persuaded Yehoram to consult him for advice.

(c)The Navi's initial reaction was to advise, sarcastically, the king of Yisrael to turn to his father's and mother's prophets of Ba'al and not to him. When the king reiterated his earlier fears, Elisha replied with the above verse, and after asking for a minstrel to play him music to dispel his anger (since prophecy requires Simchah), he promised him salvation. The valley before them would spring forth pools of water, sufficient to supply his entire army as well as the animals.

15)[line 41]"ויהי כי זקן יצחק ותכהין עיניו מראת""VA'YEHI KI ZAKEN YITZCHAK, VA'TICH'HENAH EINAV ME'RE'OS" - "And is was when Yitzchak became old that his eyes became dim from seeing [and he called out to Esav, his oldest son and he said, 'My son,' and he said, 'Here I am']" (Bereishis 27:1) (WHY YITZCHAK BECAME BLIND)

(a)The Gemara attributes Yitzchak's blindness to two causes:

1.He looked Esav in the face;

2.Avimelech's curse (to Sarah).

(b)RASHI on the Chumash, presumably based on other Midrashic sources, adds three more causes:

1.the smoke of the idolatrous offerings of Esav's wives;

2.the tears of the angels that he saw at the Akeidah;

3.to enable Yakov to receive the blessings.

(c)An additional cause cited by the commentaries is that Yitzchak accepted a form of bribery from Esav (see Bereishis 25:25), and the Torah states that bribery causes blindness (Devarim 16:19).
