| ח:יג אָסֹף אֲסִיפֵם, נְאֻם-יקוק; אֵין עֲנָבִים בַּגֶּפֶן וְאֵין תְּאֵנִים בַּתְּאֵנָה, וְהֶעָלֶה נָבֵל--וָאֶתֵּן לָהֶם, יַעַבְרוּם. | 8:13 I will utterly consume them, saith the LORD; there are no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig-tree, and the leaf is faded; and I gave them that which they transgress. |
| יד עַל-מָה, אֲנַחְנוּ יֹשְׁבִים--הֵאָסְפוּ וְנָבוֹא אֶל-עָרֵי הַמִּבְצָר, וְנִדְּמָה-שָּׁם: כִּי יקוק א-לקינוּ הֲדִמָּנוּ וַיַּשְׁקֵנוּ מֵי-רֹאשׁ, כִּי חָטָאנוּ לַיקוק. | 14 'Why do we sit still? Assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the fortified cities, and let us be cut off there; for the LORD our God hath cut us off, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD. |
| טו קַוֵּה לְשָׁלוֹם, וְאֵין טוֹב; לְעֵת מַרְפֵּה, וְהִנֵּה בְעָתָה. | 15 We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of healing, and behold terror!' |
| טז מִדָּן נִשְׁמַע, נַחְרַת סוּסָיו--מִקּוֹל מִצְהֲלוֹת אַבִּירָיו, רָעֲשָׁה כָּל-הָאָרֶץ; וַיָּבוֹאוּ, וַיֹּאכְלוּ אֶרֶץ וּמְלוֹאָהּ--עִיר, וְיֹשְׁבֵי בָהּ. | 16 The snorting of his horses is heard from Dan; at the sound of the neighing of his strong ones the whole land trembleth; for they are come, and have devoured the land and all that is in it, the city and those that dwell therein. |
| יז כִּי הִנְנִי מְשַׁלֵּחַ בָּכֶם, נְחָשִׁים צִפְעֹנִים, אֲשֶׁר אֵין-לָהֶם, לָחַשׁ; וְנִשְּׁכוּ אֶתְכֶם, נְאֻם-יקוק. | 17 For, behold, I will send serpents, basilisks, among you, which will not be charmed; and they shall bite you, saith the LORD. |
| יח מַבְלִיגִיתִי, עֲלֵי יָגוֹן; עָלַי, לִבִּי דַוָּי. | 18 Though I would take comfort against sorrow, my heart is faint within me. |
| יט הִנֵּה-קוֹל שַׁוְעַת בַּת-עַמִּי, מֵאֶרֶץ מַרְחַקִּים, הַיקוק אֵין בְּצִיּוֹן, אִם-מַלְכָּהּ אֵין בָּהּ; מַדּוּעַ, הִכְעִסוּנִי בִּפְסִלֵיהֶם--בְּהַבְלֵי נֵכָר. | 19 Behold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people from a land far off: 'Is not the LORD in Zion? Is not her King in her?'--'Why have they provoked Me with their graven images, and with strange vanities?'-- |
| כ עָבַר קָצִיר, כָּלָה קָיִץ; וַאֲנַחְנוּ, לוֹא נוֹשָׁעְנוּ. | 20 'The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.' |
| כא עַל-שֶׁבֶר בַּת-עַמִּי, הָשְׁבָּרְתִּי; קָדַרְתִּי, שַׁמָּה הֶחֱזִקָתְנִי. | 21 For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I seized with anguish; I am black, appalment hath taken hold on me. |
| כב הַצֳּרִי אֵין בְּגִלְעָד, אִם-רֹפֵא אֵין שָׁם: כִּי, מַדּוּעַ לֹא עָלְתָה, אֲרֻכַת, בַּת-עַמִּי. | 22 Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered? |
| כג מִי-יִתֵּן רֹאשִׁי מַיִם, וְעֵינִי מְקוֹר דִּמְעָה; וְאֶבְכֶּה יוֹמָם וָלַיְלָה, אֵת חַלְלֵי בַת-עַמִּי. | 23 Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people! |
| ט:א מִי-יִתְּנֵנִי בַמִּדְבָּר, מְלוֹן אֹרְחִים, וְאֶעֶזְבָה אֶת-עַמִּי, וְאֵלְכָה מֵאִתָּם: כִּי כֻלָּם מְנָאֲפִים, עֲצֶרֶת בֹּגְדִים. | 9:1 Oh that I were in the wilderness, in a lodging-place of wayfaring men, that I might leave my people, and go from them! For they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men. |
| ב וַיַּדְרְכוּ אֶת-לְשׁוֹנָם קַשְׁתָּם שֶׁקֶר, וְלֹא לֶאֱמוּנָה גָּבְרוּ בָאָרֶץ: כִּי מֵרָעָה אֶל-רָעָה יָצָאוּ וְאֹתִי לֹא-יָדָעוּ, נְאֻם-יקוק. | 2 And they bend their tongue, their bow of falsehood; and they are grown mighty in the land, but not for truth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and Me they know not, saith the LORD. |
| ג אִישׁ מֵרֵעֵהוּ הִשָּׁמֵרוּ, וְעַל-כָּל-אָח אַל-תִּבְטָחוּ: כִּי כָל-אָח עָקוֹב יַעְקֹב, וְכָל-רֵעַ רָכִיל יַהֲלֹךְ. | 3 Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother; for every brother acteth subtly, and every neighbour goeth about with slanders. |
| ד וְאִישׁ בְּרֵעֵהוּ יְהָתֵלּוּ, וֶאֱמֶת לֹא יְדַבֵּרוּ; לִמְּדוּ לְשׁוֹנָם דַּבֶּר-שֶׁקֶר, הַעֲוֵה נִלְאוּ. | 4 And they deceive every one his neighbour, and truth they speak not; they have taught their tongue to speak lies, they weary themselves to commit iniquity. |
| ה שִׁבְתְּךָ, בְּתוֹךְ מִרְמָה; בְּמִרְמָה מֵאֲנוּ דַעַת-אוֹתִי, נְאֻם-יקוק. | 5 Thy habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know Me, saith the LORD. |
| ו לָכֵן, כֹּה אָמַר יקוק צְבָאוֹת, הִנְנִי צוֹרְפָם, וּבְחַנְתִּים: כִּי-אֵיךְ אֶעֱשֶׂה, מִפְּנֵי בַּת-עַמִּי. | 6 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts: behold, I will smelt them, and try them; for how else should I do, because of the daughter of My people? |
| ז חֵץ שוחט (שָׁחוּט) לְשׁוֹנָם, מִרְמָה דִבֵּר; בְּפִיו, שָׁלוֹם אֶת-רֵעֵהוּ יְדַבֵּר, וּבְקִרְבּוֹ, יָשִׂים אָרְבּוֹ. | 7 Their tongue is a sharpened arrow, it speaketh deceit; one speaketh peaceably to his neighbour with his mouth, but in his heart he layeth wait for him. |
| ח הַעַל-אֵלֶּה לֹא-אֶפְקָד-בָּם, נְאֻם-יקוק; אִם בְּגוֹי אֲשֶׁר-כָּזֶה, לֹא תִתְנַקֵּם נַפְשִׁי. | 8 Shall I not punish them for these things? saith the LORD; shall not My soul be avenged on such a nation as this? |
| ט עַל-הֶהָרִים אֶשָּׂא בְכִי וָנֶהִי, וְעַל-נְאוֹת מִדְבָּר קִינָה--כִּי נִצְּתוּ מִבְּלִי-אִישׁ עֹבֵר, וְלֹא שָׁמְעוּ קוֹל מִקְנֶה; מֵעוֹף הַשָּׁמַיִם וְעַד-בְּהֵמָה, נָדְדוּ הָלָכוּ. | 9 For the mountains will I take up a weeping and wailing, and for the pastures of the wilderness a lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none passeth through. And they hear not the voice of the cattle; both the fowl of the heavens and the beast are fled, and gone. |
| י וְנָתַתִּי אֶת-יְרוּשָׁלִַם לְגַלִּים, מְעוֹן תַּנִּים; וְאֶת-עָרֵי יְהוּדָה אֶתֵּן שְׁמָמָה, מִבְּלִי יוֹשֵׁב. | 10 And I will make Jerusalem heaps, a lair of jackals; and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without an inhabitant. |
| יא מִי-הָאִישׁ הֶחָכָם וְיָבֵן אֶת-זֹאת, וַאֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר פִּי-יקוק אֵלָיו וְיַגִּדָהּ; עַל-מָה אָבְדָה הָאָרֶץ, נִצְּתָה כַמִּדְבָּר מִבְּלִי עֹבֵר. | 11 Who is the wise man, that he may understand this? And who is he to whom the mouth of the LORD hath spoken, that he may declare it? Wherefore is the land perished and laid waste like a wilderness, so that none passeth through? |
| יב וַיֹּאמֶר יקוק--עַל-עָזְבָם אֶת-תּוֹרָתִי, אֲשֶׁר נָתַתִּי לִפְנֵיהֶם; וְלֹא-שָׁמְעוּ בְקוֹלִי, וְלֹא-הָלְכוּ בָהּ. | 12 And the LORD saith: Because they have forsaken My law which I set before them, and have not hearkened to My voice, neither walked therein; |
| יג וַיֵּלְכוּ, אַחֲרֵי שְׁרִרוּת לִבָּם--וְאַחֲרֵי, הַבְּעָלִים, אֲשֶׁר לִמְּדוּם, אֲבוֹתָם. | 13 But have walked after the stubbornness of their own heart, and after the Baalim, which their fathers taught them. |
| יד לָכֵן, כֹּה-אָמַר יקוק צְבָאוֹת א-לקי יִשְׂרָאֵל, הִנְנִי מַאֲכִילָם אֶת-הָעָם הַזֶּה, לַעֲנָה; וְהִשְׁקִיתִים, מֵי-רֹאשׁ. | 14 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink. |
| טו וַהֲפִצוֹתִים, בַּגּוֹיִם, אֲשֶׁר לֹא יָדְעוּ, הֵמָּה וַאֲבוֹתָם; וְשִׁלַּחְתִּי אַחֲרֵיהֶם אֶת-הַחֶרֶב, עַד כַּלּוֹתִי אוֹתָם. | 15 I will scatter them also among the nations, whom neither they nor their fathers have known; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them. |
| טז כֹּה אָמַר יקוק צְבָאוֹת, הִתְבּוֹנְנוּ וְקִרְאוּ לַמְקוֹנְנוֹת וּתְבוֹאֶינָה; וְאֶל-הַחֲכָמוֹת שִׁלְחוּ, וְתָבוֹאנָה. | 16 Thus saith the LORD of hosts: Consider ye, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for the wise women, that they may come; |
| יז וּתְמַהֵרְנָה, וְתִשֶּׂנָה עָלֵינוּ נֶהִי; וְתֵרַדְנָה עֵינֵינוּ דִּמְעָה, וְעַפְעַפֵּינוּ יִזְּלוּ-מָיִם. | 17 And let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters. |
| יח כִּי קוֹל נְהִי נִשְׁמַע מִצִּיּוֹן, אֵיךְ שֻׁדָּדְנוּ; בֹּשְׁנוּ מְאֹד כִּי-עָזַבְנוּ אָרֶץ, כִּי הִשְׁלִיכוּ מִשְׁכְּנוֹתֵינוּ. | 18 For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion: 'How are we undone! We are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because our dwellings have cast us out.' |
| יט כִּי-שְׁמַעְנָה נָשִׁים דְּבַר-יקוק, וְתִקַּח אָזְנְכֶם דְּבַר-פִּיו; וְלַמֵּדְנָה בְנוֹתֵיכֶם נֶהִי, וְאִשָּׁה רְעוּתָהּ קִינָה. | 19 Yea, hear the word of the LORD, O ye women, and let your ear receive the word of His mouth, and teach your daughters wailing, and every one her neighbour lamentation: |
| כ כִּי-עָלָה מָוֶת בְּחַלּוֹנֵינוּ, בָּא בְּאַרְמְנוֹתֵינוּ--לְהַכְרִית עוֹלָל מִחוּץ, בַּחוּרִים מֵרְחֹבוֹת. | 20 'For death is come up into our windows, it is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from the street, and the young men from the broad places.-- |
| כא דַּבֵּר, כֹּה נְאֻם-יקוק, וְנָפְלָה נִבְלַת הָאָדָם, כְּדֹמֶן עַל-פְּנֵי הַשָּׂדֶה; וּכְעָמִיר מֵאַחֲרֵי הַקֹּצֵר, וְאֵין מְאַסֵּף. | 21 Speak: Thus saith the LORD--And the carcasses of men fall as dung upon the open field, and as the handful after the harvestman, which none gathereth.' |
| כב כֹּה אָמַר יקוק, אַל-יִתְהַלֵּל חָכָם בְּחָכְמָתוֹ, וְאַל-יִתְהַלֵּל הַגִּבּוֹר, בִּגְבוּרָתוֹ; אַל-יִתְהַלֵּל עָשִׁיר, בְּעָשְׁרוֹ. | 22 Thus saith the LORD: Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches; |
| כג כִּי אִם-בְּזֹאת יִתְהַלֵּל הַמִּתְהַלֵּל, הַשְׂכֵּל וְיָדֹעַ אוֹתִי--כִּי אֲנִי יקוק, עֹשֶׂה חֶסֶד מִשְׁפָּט וּצְדָקָה בָּאָרֶץ: כִּי-בְאֵלֶּה חָפַצְתִּי, נְאֻם-יקוק. | 23 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth, and knoweth Me, that I am the LORD who exercise mercy, justice, and righteousness, in the earth; for in these things I delight, saith the LORD. |
