1)

Why does it say "Ki"?

1.

Malbim: This explains why they call Chachamos - the lamenting heard from Tziyon is for the past destruction. The primary lamenting is needed for what will come upon the living!

2)

Is lamenting heard only from Tziyon?

1.

Radak: It is heard also elsewhere. Before Tziyon was conquered, they thought to take refuge in Tziyon. If Yerushalayim would remain, the other conquered cities would be rebuilt and return to be settled, like in the days of Sancheriv. He conquered everything except for Yerushalayim, and since Yerushalayim remained, everything remained, and [Yehudah] was not exiled and did not leave Eretz Yisrael. However, once Your name was conquered, there is no solution, and the voice of lamenting is heard.

3)

Why were we ashamed?

1.

Radak: There is no greater shame than being forced to leave one's house.

2.

Malbim: We were cast to exile in a far land - "va'Yashlichem El Eretz Acheres" (Devarim 29:27).

4)

What is the meaning of "Hishlichu Mishkenoseinu"?

1.

Rashi #1: Our dwelling places expelled their residents.

2.

Rashi #2: The enemies cast our dwelling places to the ground.

3.

Radak: This is like "v'Lo Saki ha'Aretz Eschem" (Vayikra 18:28).

4.

Malbim: Refer to 9:18:3:2.
