Beit - Binah
Level: Advanced

According to the Kabala, the creation began as a "MIDDLE POINT" (Nekudah Emtzait) which expanded out into a perfect circle (Etz Chaim 1). The Hebrew word for point is "Nekudah" and has Gematria of 165.

Observe that 165 = 11×15, the gematrias of the first and last two letters of the Tetragramaton.

In Kabala, the Tetragramaton represents the 10 Sefirot (divine lights) used to create the world[1].

ה ו ה י
Malchut
(kingship)
Tiferet group
(splendor)
Binah
(understanding)
Chachma
(wisdom)
56510

The highest Sefirah is called Keter (crown). Due to its sublime incomprehensible nature, Keter-crown has no letter to represent it. It is only hinted by the "crown" on the Yud (of Chochmah-wisdom). Due to this, Keter is sometimes not counted as a Sefirah and Chochmah-wisdom is counted instead as the first Sefirah with Keter being a root (and Daat-knowledge is counted instead as a "reflection" of the infinity of Keter).

Chochmah-Wisdom is the beginning of what can be grasped and is represented by a "point". This is the letter "Yud" which is like a dot.

The next Sefirah after "Chochmah" (wisdom) is called "Binah" (understanding) and is represented by the next letter "Heh". These two work together as written: "The L-ord founded the earth with wisdom, established the heavens with understanding" (Mishlei/Proverbs 3:19), a reference to Chochmah and Binah.

Chochmah (wisdom) is the underlying apriori wisdom of the universe. From it comes the roots of the fundamental axioms of reasoning and mind. The concepts of numbers and mathematical logic, the roots of the laws of physics and intellect - all this is in the realm of Chochma-wisdom. But Chochma by itself is too vast and deep to be comprehensible.

Indeed, many philosophers have gone insane or mentally depressed trying to grasp the roots of mind. For this is beyond the powers of the human intellect[2].

And even in science, those who delve deeply into physics and strive to understand its innermost roots - many are moved by the profound wisdom underlying our universe. This perception occurs naturally in the heart of every honest scientist. To quote the great physicist Albert Einstein:
"Every one who is seriously engaged in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that the laws of nature manifest the existence of a spirit vastly superior to that of men, and one in the face of which we with our modest powers must feel humble..."

"My religiosity consists of a humble admiration of the infinitely superior spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble minds. That deeply emotional conviction of the presence of a superior reasoning power, which is revealed in the incomprehensible universe, forms my idea of G-d".

"Whoever has undergone the intense experience of successful advances in this domain [science] is moved by profound reverence for the rationality made manifest in existence...the grandeur of reason incarnate in existence.."
Binah-Understanding
The Sefirah of Binah, on the other hand, is the decoding of the abstract divine light received from the Sefirah of Chochmah-wisdom into a comprehensible mental structure of facts and ideas. While the roots of the divine lights of Chochmah-wisdom are essentially incomprehensible to human intellect, the role of Binah-understanding is to dim the intensity of these lights, so that one can engage with it, discover its components, define them, arrange them and create a whole mental system, which will be understandable and can be passed on to the following Sefirot.

R.Aryeh Kaplan explains:
Chochmah-wisdom is seen as the basic blueprint that G-d created to bring the entire spiritual-physical universe into existence. It is also the active intellect that G-d uses to run the universe. Although G-d was not compelled to create the world through the vehicle of the intellect, He bound Himself to its rules when He created "Chochmah". He then created man with the same intellect and the same built-in axioms. They would allow him to grasp the underlying principles of creation by contemplating G-d's handiwork. (indeed this is why man is able to conceive the equation for how an electron works, a truly remarkable fact)

The relationship between Chochmah-wisdom and Binah-understanding can be grasped in terms of the relationship between male and female. In a human relationship, the male essentially provides the s perm and the female takes it, holds it in her womb for nine months, after which she delivers a fully developed child. In the same way, Chochma-Wisdom is a series of facts which we can put into a womb of Binah-understanding in order to develop an entire logical structure. The paradigm of this is mathematics. If we take ten digits from zero to nine and a few axioms, put them in the womb of Binah, and let them gestate, we can obtain the whole corpus of mathematics... Chochmah-wisdom thus penetrates and impregnates Binah-Understanding, which is like a womb... (Inner Space, Kaplan, pg.58)

Thus, the Sefirah of Chochma (wisdom) connects with Binah (understanding).
(note the above analogy is not quite exact. For while Chochmah can exist without Binah, Binah cannot exist without Chochmah. Chochmah is more like the inner soul of Binah.

To summarize, Keter-crown is the "will", Chochmah-wisdom is the "idea", and Binah-understanding is the "plan". All three upper Sefirot are in the realm of thought. Keter corresponds to the highest and innermost moving power - will. Thus, when referring to a process, Keter is the first Sefirah as will is the first moving power. But when referring to actualization of will, the first revelation is Chochmah-wisdom and thus Chochmah-wisdom is then counted as the first Sefirah with Keter being just a root[3])

BINAH has Gematria 67.
Amazingly, the 3 Gematrias of "AND BINAH" (ובינה) are:
ובינהStandard Gematria=73
ובינהOrdinal Gematria=37
ובינהSmall Gematria=19

These numbers are the wisdom series, i.e. the three Gematrias of Chochma (wisdom) itself.
As such 37×73=2701 also hints to "Chochmah (ordinal) × and Binah (standard)" or vice versa.

This is very interesting indeed. Especially since the letter "Vav" (which means "AND") is connection. That is what Binah does, it connect dots together to form shapes/sizes/meanings from the Chochmah (wisdom) which are the dots or building blocks.

(note also that according to the Kabala, there are 32 "Paths of Chochmah-wisdom" and "50 Gates of Binah-understanding". 32+50 = 82 = Genesis 1:1 small gematria. Amazingly, Genesis 1:1 splits as first 3 words = 32 small gematria and next 4 words = 50 small gematria, no doubt corresponding to the 32 paths and 50 gates of Chochmah/Binah)

While Chochmah is represented by 1, the Unitary, or a "point", Binah is already the beginning of plurality and is represented by the number 2. It is here that shapes/boundaries begin to appear.

Pi and √2

Pi defines the perimeter of the circle, the ultimate, beyond human grasp, perfect shape that has endless sides/corners.

Observe how Pi can be calculated exclusively using the number 2 (Viete's formula). No other known formula exists for calculating Pi using a single number other than 2.

Using the fundamental axioms of math and mind provided by Chochmah-wisdom, Binah as represented by Beit=2 constructs the constant Pi.

Interestingly, the first 6 digits of √2 = 1.414213562373...
Digit Sum = 4 + 1 + 4 + 2 + 1 + 3 = 15= Gematria of Yud (10)+Heh (5)=Chochmah and Binah in the Tetragramaton
Digit Sum2 = 42+12+42+22+12+32 = 47= small Gematria of "Nekudah Emtzait" (middle point)
Digit Sum3 = 43+13+43+23+13+33 = 165= Gematria of Nekudah (point)
Digit Sum4 = 44+14+44+24+14+34 = 611= Gematria of Emtzait (middle [point])

Why the first 6 digits? Perhaps this hints to the letter "Vuv" (=6) of "AND Binah". As before Chochmah connects with Binah through the "Vuv" to construct and develop the Chochmah-wisdom (611 is also the Gematria of Torah. For Torah is rooted in Chochmah/Binah [4]).

More on Pi and √2

Some interesting connections between Pi and √2:
As before, Pi is basically an endless elegant equation of the square root of 2

√2=1.414213562373...
Pi=3.141592653589...

Notice how the first 3 numerals of √2 (1.41) are the first 3 digits of Pi 3.141.

Furthermore, Pi / √2 = 2.2214414... (three 2s in a row)

Another interesting symmetry[5] between Pi and √2:
The sum of the first 165 digits of Pi squared = 4699 = 2701 + 1998
(these are split as first 82=2701 and next 83=1998)

The sum of the first 165 digits of √2 squared = 4699 = 1998 + 2701
(these are split as first 82=1998 and next 83=2701)
(very interesting indeed!)
Observe also 1658382 first appears at the 3773-611 index of Pi:

Also interesting, the first 37 digits of √2 sum to 165

Both Pi and √2 set borders.

Pi is connected to the holy name Sh-adai (=314 just like Pi starts 3.14..) which sets the borders of creation (see section "6 days and Sabbath).

√2 is connected to many things. √2 starts 1.41.. and 141 is the Gematria of EFES אפס/nothingness a reference to Keter, the highest Sefirah which corresponds to "free will". 141 is also the Gematria of "Mitzvah". For a mitzvah (commandment) is the manifestation of free will. Mitzvah also sets borders of spiritual structure, i.e. borders of commandments.

The opening letter "Beit" (of Bereisheit) is connected to Binah. The Beit, as the first letter of the torah, is also connected to "Keter". It is the crown of "Reisheit" which is Chochmah-wisdom (see footnote[11]). Interestingly, the gematria of Beit spelled out (בית) = 412

412 first appears in √2 starting from the 141st digit:

Let us explain some more be'H.

Genesis 1:1 Figurate Numbers

Genesis 1:1 has 28 letters.

The number 28 is both a triangular and a rectangular figurate number.

In Triangle formation:
Yud in center=Nekudah (Chochmah-wisdom)
Inner Triangle=611 = Torah/Emtzait
Outer Triangle=2080 = 2+080=82 Sum of Thousands

The triangle formation seems to hint to wisdom (Yud), Torah, and speech to create the world (82=Peh-Beit which is speech. see sections "Breath of Life" and "First Letter").

In Rectangular formation:
Inner Rectangle=802
Outer Rectangle=1899

The number 802 is connected to 703, for both 82 and 73 are important and ubiquitous numbers in Genesis 1:1 (we find this extra zero phenomena elsewhere such as 271/2701 or 541/5401 where 2701 is the midpoint of 5401). 1899 seems connected to 1998 (same digits).

At first look, it appears 802 is also Peh-Beit, i.e. 80-2, speech to create the world. However, zooming into the inner 802 rectangle, we notice it splits to 65/737. Both are important numbers. It seems the Torah added an additional explanation!

737 is connected to Sh-adai which means: "who said to His world enough" (see section: "6 days and Sabbath"), i.e. setting borders and boundaries. Indeed, a rectangle shape is something that does not expand, but rather contains and doesn't "negotiate", fixed, a box.

In the Talmud:
"I am E-l Sh-adai (G-d), I am the One who told the world 'Dai!' (enough)" (Chagigah 12a).

Maharsha commentary: "G-d joined the attribute of justice with the attribute of mercy.. for the creation was expanding according to G-d's traits which are infinite. G-d restrained and demarcated them.. so that the world would have borders of space according to the receivers (us) who are physical beings".

And in the classic work "Shaarei Orah" (part 2, ninth sefirah of Yesod):
"From the Name E-l Sh-adai comes power and divine flow to the holy Name 'A-donai' (Malchut) until it says 'enough'. Therefore, our sages said in Tractate Chagigah, 'Sh-adai, who said to His world 'enough'". And even though it implies as it says there, that the world was expanding until He said 'enough', but the primary inner meaning is that E-l Sh-adai is what gives sustenance to every creature and sends its blessings to A-donai until it says 'enough'...

Thus, 737 refers to establishing and setting the physical borders of our universe. Space, time, matter, energy, the laws of physics, etc. all this is set by Sh-adai, blessed be He (according to the knowledge from Chochmah and Binah). Sh-adai also corresponds to the 9th Sefirah=Yesod whose lights sustain the world in proper amount according to the ability of the receivers. Without Yesod, there would be no world, and the world is created for G-d to do Gemilut Chasadim (acts of kindness).

65 is the Gematria of A-donai which is how we pronounce the Tetragramaton. This holy name corresponds to the Sefirah of Malchut (kingship), the final Sefirah of the 10 Sefirot. Malchut corresponds to "mouth" in the divine image. Thus, from this Sefirah comes speech after the stage of Chochmah-wisdom and Understanding-Binah - the 10 sayings of creation.
    To summarize:
  • The Triangle formation refers to Yud-wisdom, Torah-611, and 82-speech of initial creation

  • The Rectangular formation refers to setting the borders and definitions of our universe, i.e. Beit as the "house of creation"[6] and also the sustaining of the world after creation.

Mitzvah

There are significant signs that this rectangle also refers to spiritual borders and boundaries. This makes sense for the physical character of our world is determined by its purpose - free will and Mitzvah (commandments). Thus, why do we have parents? Because of the commandment to honor your parents. Why do we need to eat food and earn a livelihood? Because of the commandments to be honest with money, etc. etc. Furthermore, after creation it is man's job to draw down divine flow to sustain the world.

The letter expansion of "Mitzvah" (commandment) is:
Letter expansion of Mitzvah (מצוה)
ה ו צ מ
הה הה ויו יוד ויו צדי דלת יוד מם מם
20 64 558 160
Gematria=802
Ordinal Gematria=248
# of Letters=26

248 = number of Biblical positive commandments
26 = Gematria of the Tetragramaton

Many important Gematrias arise from this letter expansion[7]. Thus, it seems the inner 802 rectangle may also represent the concept of spiritual boundaries - Mitzvah. The ordinal Gematria of the inner rectangle is 248 which is the number of positive Biblical commandments (ex. love your fellow, be holy, etc.). These are the core purpose of creation. For the main purpose of life is not to avoid evil but to do good. Interestingly, the final verse in the torah portion "you shall be holy" has Gematria 2701. This torah portion contains the general principles of the torah such as "be holy", "love your fellow as yourself", etc. For this is the main purpose of it all and this is what sustains the world after creation.

1899, the outer rectangle/perimeter appears to represent the spiritual boundaries of the negative Biblical commandments and Rabbinical fences. These are all outside boundaries to protect a person from evil (ex. don't hate, don't steal, etc.).

1899 = ארבע רשויות בשבת = "the four domains of Sabbath" - i.e. the quintessential symbol of all borders of negative commandments and Rabbinical fences. An entire order of the Mishna opens with these laws (Seder Moed, tractate Sabbath), restraining a person even when giving a loaf of bread to a poor man. Then a long and very difficult tractate (Eiruvin) is dedicated entirely to this topic. Without a doubt this is the most fenced mitzvah of all for everyone, men and women (interestingly, 703=Sabbath as we saw in section "6 days and Sabbath")

Thus, perhaps we can say that this rectangle also refers to spiritual borders and boundaries - i.e. Mitzvah. For the Sefirah of Malchut is full of Dinim (judgments), i.e. borders not to cross, commandments - Mitzvah. Transgressing these commandments causes blockage of divine flow to the world.

Final Word
According to the Kabala, the 10 Sefirot (divine lights) are a kind of intermediary between G-d and us. This was necessary in order for us to not be annihilated by His infinite light and also in order to give room for our divine service. When humans observe the Torah, keep its commandments and study the torah - then spiritual flow rises up through the chain of Sefirot like lightning until the Ein Sof (infinite) of Keter which then in turn sends down blessings, wisdom, and divine flow to the person and also the whole creation. But if humans do bad things, then the opposite happens - the Sefirot block the passage of wisdom and divine flow and the world declines in spiritual level. Evil then rears its ugly head and falsehood rises in the world (see Shaarei Kedusha Part 3).

Other - Numeric Symmetry

Another important arrangement of the Genesis 1:1 28 letters is:

This split is important due to the 703/1998 numeric split and 703 = sum of thousands of 2701 (2+701). Both also have "and the EARTH" which is the ground... being at the ground level, bottom, our physical world.

Thus, the two main splits in the rectangular formation are:
802+1899=2701 and 703+1998=2701

Observe the numeric symmetry in these splits:

1899/703=2.701280227596..
1899/2701=0.703072935949...

If you check 1900/703 or 1898/703 you do not get such a result any more, and also with 1899/2701 there is no other (whole) number that gives this ratio for both. This makes this even more interesting, for the number 802 is connected to 703, both are connected to 82 and 73 and 1899 gives the ratios as stated and there is no other whole number that does that. Thus, for obtaining such ratios, the numbers 1899/802 would be the most apriori within a possible split of 2701 to anything else.

Interestingly, the inner rectangle=802 = 401×2 and 401 is the innermost word in Genesis 1:1
Observe: 802/1998=0.401401401401401401401.. (infinite 401)
(we will see much more on this 401 prime in the section "Central Prime").

Furthermore, 1899 appears to be some kind of super-number in the ratios and sums that emerge. For example:
1899/611=3.108019639..99% of Pi
1899/73=26.01369..26=Tetragramaton
1998/1899=1.052132701421801..
1899+913=2812=2701+73+37+1 (all factors of 2701)
314/1899=0.165350184..

This seems to be yet another display of amazing mathematical symmetries in Genesis 1:1

A Deeper Look - Seed of Creation

As before, Chochmah is like the "seed" and it goes inside the Sefirah of "Binah" to "give birth", so to speak. So Chochmah wants Binah to build it and give birth to spiritual superior man, which is Adam, and at its best, Yisrael[5].

Note that these things are Kabalistic concepts and are not meant to be taken literally. For the Sefirot are really just divine names of G-d. Nevertheless, we must know that man is created in the "image of G-d" and what happens to us is a "mirror reflection" of what happens above at some level which is incomprehensible to us.

Let us now look where 165, the gematria of the Nekudah which is like the "seed/point" of wisdom, first appears in Pi. As before, 2701 first appears at location 165 in Pi and those 165 digits sum to 737 (see section:"6 days and Sabbath").

Observe the amazing story of creation being told here.
  • 165 first appears at digit 238 = 165+73
  • before 165 is 6783. 67 is the gematria of Binah
  • 83 is the center point of 165 and the prime factor of "Bereisheit" 913=83×11 (which is Chochmah. so the initial Chochmah joins Binah). there is another hint here, namely, 83 is 73+10 which means Chochmah (73) impregnates Binah with 10=Yud, the initial seed of Chochmah.
  • 165 is Nekudah (conception, the first dot, seed embryo of Chochmah and Binah)[3]
  • 271 is the Gematria of "Herayon" (pregnancy[8]) and the center point of Yisrael=541.
  • 1201 is the location of the central point of 2701 in a formation of a Triangle of 73 (see end of chapter: "10th letter"). As to the 271 and 1201 overlapping the 1, see footnote[10]
So Binah, takes the seed of Chochma and gives birth to the souls of Yisrael. This is the purpose of the creation of the world. Indeed as Rashi brings the Midrash on Genesis 1:1 - "Bereisheit - for Reisheit.. [G-d created the world] for the sake of the Torah.. and for the sake of Israel" which means for the sake of whoever steps forth to walk before G-d and fulfill His Torah, whether Jew or Gentile through the seven commandments of Bnei Noach[9].

Keter - Root of Wisdom

Let us zoom into the above stage between conception of the Nekudah (165) and Pregnancy (271). The amount added to 165 is:
271 - 165 = 106 which is the Gematria of "Kav/line" (קו). According to the Kabala (Etz Chaim 1), when the initial circle of creation occurred, a "Kav"/line from the Ein Sof (Infinite One) entered the circle to imbue it with the soul of life.

Similarly, during the union (Yichud) of Chachmah and Binah, a Kav (106) from the Ein Sof entered the Nekudah (165) and the result was pregnancy 271 = 165 (Nekudah) + 106 (Kav). This is also how it is with husband and wife. At conception, the man and woman provide the seed/egg while G-d provides the divine soul.

This "Kav" is passed through from Keter which is the root of Chochma-Wisdom. Keter is the interface between the Ein Sof (Infinite One) and the rest of the Sefirot (actually, the Ein Sof is also a creation/interface. For G-d Himself is completely beyond any words or concepts whatsoever).

In Job 28:12 "But wisdom (Chochma) from where/nothing (Ayin) is it found?, and where is the place of understanding (Binah)?". This verse hints to Keter which is as "nothing" (Ayin=61) due to its sublime nature. From there Chochmah-wisdom originates. For the true reality is completely intangible and devoid of any form whatsoever.

The holy Name associated with Keter is E-heye (א-היה) ("I will be") and has Gematria of 21. The 21st prime number is 73 (Chochmah) hinting Keter is the root of wisdom. (perhaps 83 also hints to Keter-Chochmah, namely, Keter the 10th Sefirah, or seed of Chochmah + Chochmah (73) = 10+73=83)

21 is also the root of Truth, namely, 212=441 (Truth). Truth and wisdom are very much connected. For if something is not Truth, it cannot be called wisdom.

Amazingly: the square of pregnancy:
= 2712 = 73,441   For pregnancy is an expansion. 73 expands to 73,000. How? through the manifestation of Truth (441) from Keter. The divine wisdom expands in the womb of Binah, one thing is deduced from another, to create the wisdom of the universe.

21 is also the small Gematria of Nekudah and its midpoint (11) is the second prime of the opening word Bereisheit:
Bereisheit=913=11×83 (Chochmah-wisdom)
Sh-adai=737=11×67 (Binah-understanding)

Notice 737 = 11 × 67 (Binah) just like Bereisheit = 913 = 11 × 83
For 737 is like a second "Bereisheit". 913 Bereisheit (Chochmah) is the wisdom of creation while 737 is the setting of boundaries according to Binah (understanding) and the sustaining of the world through divine flow. Creation is an ongoing process, and thus 737 looks like 73×37=2701.

Sefirah of Daat-Knowledge

According to the Kabala, the first three words "Bereisheit Barah" correspond to Keter-Chochmah and the Name of G-d "Elokim" corresponds to Binah (Zohar, Hashmatot, siman 24) (Et=Chesed/Gevurah, Shamayim=Tiferet, V'Et=Netzach, Hod, Yesod, and Ha'Aretz=Malchut. see there).

According to the Zohar, the Heavens and Earth were created by the Divine Name א-הוה which corresponds to "Daat" (knowledge):
Zohar, Hashmatot, siman 1 - "In the Beginning, Elokim created Heavens and Earth" - the first letters spell א-הוה from which were created Heavens (Aleph-Heh) and Earth (Vuv-Heh).

Matok M'dvash commentary: the holy Name א-הוה teaches on the secret of Atzilut. From Aleph of Keter to Heh of Binah through Chochmah. From these letters were created the upper Heavens which is Tiferet and from Atzilut of Vuv-Heh were created the upper Earth and likewise for Heaven and Earth of our physical world.

Divine Name
בְּרֵאשִׁ֖ית בָּרָ֣א אֱ-לֹהִ֑ים אֵ֥ת הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם וְאֵ֥ת הָאָֽרֶץ
Keter-Chochmah BinahDaat (knowledge) א-הוה

The explanation of all this is that there were two stages of creation. The first was the creation of the Sefirot themselves. Bereisheit Barah (created) Elokim, Bereisheit=(Chochmah-wisdom) created Elokim=Binah-understanding. Then Binah "gave birth" to the lower Sefirot - Tiferet Group and Malchut which are the upper "Heavens and Earth" respectively of Atzilut. Then the second stage of creation is that Malchut created the Heavens and Earth below using the lights it received from the higher Sefirot.

These two "Heavens and Earth" are alluded in the double language of the verse (Genesis 2:4): "These are the generations of the Heavens and the earth when they were created, on the day that the L-rd G-d made earth and Heavens". Notice "Heavens and Earth" is written twice as above (see Shaarei Orah, gate 8 with commentary of R.Epstein pg.693).

Thus, one of the meanings of the "Nekudah" 165 = 11 × 15 from which creation began is the 10 Sefirot which are split Yud-Heh (15=Chochma-Binah) and Vav-Heh (11=Tiferet-Malchut) and which are the root "Place" of all the worlds.

Observe also 913 + 737 = 1650 = 165 × 10
A hint to Bereisheit (913), the initial point of Chochma-wisdom that expands/encapsulates the 10 Sefirot through 737.

Sustaining the World

The 10 Sefirot are a kind of intermediary between G-d and the creation. They are also to give room for man's divine service. When a person does a mitzvah or studies torah, he causes divine lights to rise up the chain of Sefirot until the Ein Sof which in turn rains down blessings and shefah to him/her and the whole world.

Tiferet and Malchut corresponds to the holy Names "Havai" (Tetragramaton) (26) and "A-donai" (65) respectively.
Tiferet Group=26(Tetragramaton)
Malchut=65(A-donai)

The union of these two holy names has the important Gematria of 26+65=91

91 is the Gematria of Amen. For when a person says Amen which is the easiest Mitzvah (even a small child can do it) and all the more so for other Mitzvot or torah study, he causes a union of these two holy Names which sends divine flow up the Sefirot (this is the reason for the L'shem Yichud prayer before mitzvot). For as before after creation, man becomes a partner with G-d, so to speak, to sustain the world.

Interestingly, at the 238th digit of √2 is the number 4186 (in Pi, this is the first instance of 165 as before).

4186 = 91st triangle number
Two 4186 (91st triangles) combine to form the 31st Star of David which has 5581 dots.
5581 is also the solution to the supreme symmetry in base-91 number system (as we saw in section "Beyond Decimal").
5581 = 737rd prime number (that the 737th prime is a Star of David is really profound!). This hints to the lights of Sh-adai which receives the divine flow from the higher Sefirot to sustain the creation.

31 is the Gematria of E-l, the Hebrew word for G-d. Interestingly, "E-l Olam" (G-d of the world) has large gematria=737 as we'll see next section.

Perhaps this Star of David represents the sustaining of creation. For when one does a Mitzvah or learns Torah, i.e. strives to connect with G-d, this unites Havai (26) and A-donai (65) to bring Shefah (divine flow) of blessings and wisdom from the Ein Sof (G-d) to oneself and the whole creation.

According to the holy books, the more heart/desire, the more Shefah a person brings down. The will of a person is his deepest essence and corresponds to Keter-crown. Someone who really WANTS to do a mitzvah, it will break though all the worlds and bring down Shefah (divine flow) from Ein Sof to all the Sefirot.

Interestingly, the first and last letters of the Torah are "Beit-Lamed" (32) respectively which spells "Bal" בל and in reverse "Lev" לב (heart). The negative commandments are called "Bal" (don't do). Lev (heart) represents the positive commandments, as the talmud says "G-d wants the heart" (Sanhedrin 106b). By refraining from negative commandments and by doing the positive commandments with heart, one brings down Shefah as before. The more heart, the more Shefah (Divine flow).

This is known as אתערותא דלתתא (awakening of below) or מים נוקבין (Mayim Nukvim/female waters) from us which awakens אתערותא דלעילה (awakening of above) or מים דוכרין (Mayim duchrin/male waters). This is one of the main symbolisms of the Star of David.

Interestingly, the inner hexagon of this Star of David which is the main unification part has 2791 dots = 2701 + 90 (צ=Tzadik/righteous person). For this is the job of the Tzadik "Yesod Olam" and on him the world (2701) stands.
(note: the interweaving of these two holy Names as some prayer books have is יאהד-ונהי. Gematria=91, Ordinal=55, Katan=28, Albam=913, all important numbers. some books use a short-hand two yuds יי for first and last letters)

Likewise in Torah, if a person works hard to know the inner meaning in torah, then he can connect to the divine number 1820 = 70×26 = Sod Havai, secrets of torah, the 32 paths of wisdom (Sefer Yetzirah 1:1). This is hinted in: 26+27+28+...65 = 1820

Let us look where 1820 first appears in √2

Notice the amazing sequence that shows up:
83-26-611-65-1820-67
In between 83 and 67 (Keter-Chochmah and Binah):
26=Havai (Tiferet)
611=Torah
65=A-donai (Malchut)
1820=secrets of Torah

The entire sequence has more information and the split 611/65 can also be split to 61/165 = Ayin/Nekudah hinting to Keter/Chochma.

This is a wonderful wonderful sequence.

Other - Binah and Wife

We are made in the "image of G-d" (Genesis 1:27), so to speak. Thus we also create worlds. For "every human being is like an entire world" (Mishna Sanhedrin 4:5).

The woman is the Beit בית and likewise: "G-d endowed a woman with an additional Binah over the man" (Talmud Nidah 45b).

When everything is going well, the YUD from the man איש comes into the woman אשה. As the letter Hey has a door and a yud inside. So the Yud from the man needs to go into the woman, go through the door and then the woman is pregnant with Yud. Chochmah comes into Binah and Binah advances it, builds upon it. This is both physically and mentally.

The Yud is the chochmah, so the penetration with the letter Vuv (Yesod) is for carrying the letter Yud at the tip. This is exactly how it is done physically, but this is the same also mentally. This is also why it is very important to mentally think the right kedushah (holy) thoughts while being with one's wife as this greatly affects the lights drawn from above. This can be elaborated a lot. A very simple yet profound illustration of this is found with the letter Beit. The dot inside is the Yud and likewise when Beit is spelled out בית. For the Yud is located inside the house, inside the Beit.

The 1st letter, Beit, indicates it is intimate, it is inside - a house, the last letter ת shows that it is meant for a purpose, tachlit (תכלית), and together they form the word בת means daughter. When is she fulfilling her role? When she has a husband that brings Chochmah, Yud, into the house. The man is supposed to fulfill his role not just as the intimate connection, but bringing light of Torah into the house[5].

Other - Mikveh

According to the Kabala, the lights of the Mikveh correspond to the Yesod of Imah ("womb" of Binah so to speak). This is the secret of the talmudic saying: "a convert is like a newborn child" (Talmud, Yevamot 22a). For when immersing in the Mikveh, one enters and emerges out of the spiritual lights of Binah. So too for anyone who repents and immerses in a Mikveh, he enters the lights of Binah and emerges as a newborn person.

This is because while inside the Mikveh and resolving to improve his ways, he connects all the way up to Keter and becomes annulled by its divine lights. Keter is the holy Name "E-heye" - "I will be". For when one resolves to become a better person, he says and connects to "I will be" of Keter. And even if one stumbles many times, he should not give up. Rather, "I will be that I will be" (Exodus 3:13) try again and again.
(when Moses asked G-d what Name should I tell the people of Israel? G-d answered him: "I will be that I will be, i.e. tell them that this mission comes from the Ein Sof, from the Crown, the manifestation of truth etc")

Other - Pregnancy of the World

The Hebrew word בראשית (Bereisheit) spells א בתשרי (1st of Tishrei) which is Rosh Hashana (the new year). In the prayer service of that day is the cryptic phrase היום הרת עולם (today is the pregnancy (birthday) of the world). We have seen that there is alot of truth to that statement.
הרת עולם = 751 Gematria = total sum of all prime factors of Genesis 1:1 (see section "Central Prime"). This number first appears in Pi starting at digit 47 (Nekudah Emtzait small gematria)

Other - Purpose of Creation

In "The Way of G-d" (ch.2) by master kabalist R.Moshe Chaim Luzzato:
"G-d's purpose in creation was to bestow of His good to another..
Since G-d desired to bestow good, a partial good would not be sufficient. The good that He bestows would have to be the ultimate good that His handiwork could accept. G-d alone, however, is the only true good, and therefore His beneficent desire would not be satisfied until it could bestow that very good, namely the true perfect good that exists in His intrinsic Essence.."

The Gematria of Chesed/kindness (חסד) = 72 = 73-1

"Ohr Ein Sof" (infinite light) is how we try to understand G-d's endless influence with infinite love, oneness. The Chesed is indeed like that, but it already has the idea "of giving" which is again some result of actual love as love connects 1 and 1 together and influences goodness to another. Opposite of what most people define as love, they usually define it as "HAV" bring to me, "what I get out of it", "tastes good". "she looks good", i.e "I love looking at her", "it is funny, I love it..", i.e likes the entertainment etc. While "love" is bonding and influences outwards not just inwards, a unification.

So yes, we can see that star 73 is actually CHESED, 72, surrounding CP (center point) when the CP is in its' infinite stage it is "1" but that is YUD, it already has the potential of releasing or unleashing "10" regular Yud and not just a small yud. So the star of 73 Chochmah, is Chesed 72 surrounding it perfectly and yud inside. When you consider the yud as 10 even though it is just a single point... as it is YUD it is both 1 and 10... then you get 82, the small Gematria of Genesis 1:1

Thus, we have expansion of endless light which is like Chesed that continues to expand endlessly, without borders and definition. So it is like "72" and "0" which is just chesed on its own (chesed and initial crown, then with initial yud, small yud, 1), 0 and then 1. So now it is "72" and 1 which is Chochmah 73, but still not developed into the 73 in "yesh mamash only contained within a single point".

The 1 is for chochmah when 0=nothingness is for keter. Then it expands into 10 Sefirot, this is Chochmah and Binah working together to build this house of Sefirot so already "beit" is being built, so now it is Chesed and Yud that has been grown to 10, At this point it is 72 and 10 which is 82, house of thoughts that are about to be going "out" from "thoughts" state into "speech" Peh-Beit.

Observe also that 2701 is a MIRROR REFLECTION of 1072
1072 = 1000 + 72 = the crown number of 72 (Chesed/kindness)
(1000 + the number is known as the "crown number")

1072 is the crown of Chesed-kindess and the missing crown of Chochmah-wisdom (1073-1). So 1072 represents, in my opinion the connection between the two, as it allows the Chesed be full in the undefined crown, yet once it collapses down, as is translated using sum of thousands it becomes "73" which is Chochmah with all that is attached to these processes. 2701 is the 73rd triangle whose perimeter is 216 dots (Gevurah). 216 = 3×72, i.e. all 3 sides of the triangle have 72 dots (without overlap). For creation was about restricting the infinite "Chesed" using Gevurah, making borders, sheamar l'olamo dai (737) so that the creation of finite beings like ourselves would be possible.

The sum of thousands of 2701=2+701=703
The sum of thousands of 1072=1+072=73
note also: 1072 = 16 × 67

In this regard 16 is 10 (Yud) + 6 (Vuv) very clearly indeed and it is Yud that comes from crown, Kav (VuV) and the process is very significant therefore 67 which is Binah is very obvious here.

So 1072 "screams out" "I want to act" - wants to build, not just stay as is, but rather "collapse" and restructure, give birth to Chochmah=73.

It seems that Genesis 1:1 is like the pregnancy stage of the world, therefore it is developed within the Rachamim (mercy), and then it is ready to be fulfilled and "go out" to expand like trees and animals etc, so everything is already inside, like a baby (heard from Oren Evron).

  • [3] Where ever you find Chochmah-wisdom, you must also find Binah-understanding, except for the initial Chochmah, the yesod (foundation) of all yesodot (foundations). The abstract Nekudah is like pure chochmah, but the name Nekudah is made of letters and the value 165 is not a prime number. Indeed to have a Nekudah you need definitions, which needs Binah. So the root of the root of the concept of Nekudah is the only place where Chochmah is pure without prior Binah workings. Also, where ever you find Binah, you must also find Chochmah, because Binah cannot work without Chochmah, it needs the material, the points, the building blocks for which to build with. While Chochmah can be on its own, and whenever Binah is finished the Chochmah remains, like Zikaron, Zachar, but Binah needs further development to sustain being active. Therefore it is a pair that is always found together except as above (Oren Evron).   return to text

  • [4] the written torah is closer to Chochmah while the oral torah is closer to Binah. For Chochmah is "Yud" which corresponds to the eyes while Binah is first "Heh" (of Tetragramaton) which correspond to the ears. The eyes see a general picture of everything in one glance (as people say: "a picture is worth a thousand words") while the ears can hear only one thing at a time. Thus, the oral law is not supposed to be written down, but transmitted orally.   return to text

  • [7] as above, the letter expansion (Milui d'Milui) of "Mitzvah" (commandment) is: מם מם צדי דלת יוד ויו יוד ויו הה הה.
I showed this to Oren Evron and he showed me many important Gematrias that arise from this sequence.

Let us peek through the vast new door just opened. For this is the way of divine wisdom, every door opened leads to bigger and deeper questions. We find this in science also, especially in physics and microbiology:
    • The regular milui is 216 = Gevurah, the world was created using Gevurah as defining.
    • The Meshulash (triangle gematria) is 676 which is the CP (center point) of CP of 2701, where 2701 has perimeter of 216, i.e Gevurah miluy.
    • The milui with end letters, sofiot, is 776 = Nekudah Emtzait.
    • The Milui d'Milui is 802 as mentioned.
    • The "lifney" (previous letters) is 119 = עיגול (circle). So it derives from the circle..
    • The letters Acharey, after, go up to 1313 = 314 Sum of Thousands! where the 1 thousands needs to go back to 1 to form 314, again hints at the CP and the outside layer.
    • The Atbash is 185 = 5 * 37 = Hey letter * Chochmah ordinal, or hevel, which hints at pregnancy.
    • The katan is 24, a number that is connected to the wholeness and beauty.
    • Ordinal of mitzvah is 42, corresponding to the 42 Letter Name of G-d with harsh judgement.
    • The milui of milui has small 109 gematria which is עגול and regular milui of 2,913 Beit Rabatit + beresheit. Letters location/ ordinal 248 = רחם again hints at pregnancy and mercy.
    • The Atbach is 1118 = shema yisrael verse.
Ok, the word mitzvah, with this milui type is very fundamental in the creation. It makes a lot of sense too, because this world is the world where people can do mitzvot, we have free choice. There is no point to mitzvot if there was no free will.   return to text

  • [8] 271 is the Gematria of "Herayon" (pregnancy). Interestingly, human pregnancy lasts roughly 271 days. The math constant e = 2.71.. (Euler's number). Thus, e is mostly related to growth - expansion over time, like the process of pregnancy.   return to text

  • [9] see Shaarei Kedusha Part 3 Gate 7: "Tanna D'Bei Eliyahu (Eliyahu Hanavi): (says G-d) I testify on Myself heaven and earth, whether man or woman, whether gentile or Jew, whether slaveman or slavewoman, everyone according to his actions, the Ruach Hakodesh (holy spirit) will dwell on him". end quote.   return to text

  • [10] regarding why 271 and 1201 share the same 1, I asked Oren Evron and he replied:
I think it is very straight forward:
    271 is a hexagon centered around a Central Point. i.e 270 around 1.
1201 is the Central Point of 2701's distance from each corner in Triangle 73 formation.
So I think, the sharing of the "1" from 271 with the 1 in digit in the number 1201 is like that because it points at that this pregnancy is happening inside Triangle 73, sharing the same CP of creation. This 271 hexagon is the hexagon of Star 541 as you know, so it means that the creation started with thought about kedushah of Israel being the Reishit, the seed. Hash-em created the world for Israel to become a goy kadosh (holy people).   return to text

  • [11] I had an illuminating correspondence with Oren Evron regarding Pi and SQRT2. Here it is:
Oren: The initial point comes from nothing (Keter) and that is the 1st building block, from which all other buildups can be made: a point.
    (me: as hinted in the verse: ..וְהַֽחָכְמָה מֵאַ֣יִן תִּמָּצֵ֑א וְאֵ֥י זֶ֜ה מְק֣וֹם בִּינָֽה Job/Iyov 28:12 "wisdom is from 'ayin'" where "Ayin/nothing" hints to Keter)

This is the ultimate Chochmah-wisdom, where Binah-understanding had no process of creating, unless there is Binah and Chochmah even before the creation of Point, which is above most human understanding.

Now, 141 is the Gematria of אפס-EFES which means nothingness and that Chochmah-wisdom comes from EFES. Literally, figurately, physically, theoretically, geometrically.

So now, 141 is also SQRT2 (square root of 2), of ... "2" which G-d decided to place as the very first letter and the only even prime number and the 1st prime number that is not the ultimate prime i.e "1".

So this means, in my opinion that SQRT2 has much to do with Keter-CROWN. It isn't from Chochmah itself, but rather the crown above/prior to it. How do I know this? Because Ramban and others said that the 1st Beit is crown to Bereisheit which is Chochmah as well as 141 = אפס EFES-nothingness and SQRT2 starts with 141.

    Now, what about Pi?

Well, Pi existence requires 2 definitions and then it is the "ratio" between them. So it needs a definition of center point and the outside Circle point, then it is defined, what is the radius/diameter? and then we can build the outside layer, the perimeter using Pi. So Pi cannot exist without the prior definitions.

BUT: Point itself is mostly related to Pi as Point has a lot to do with a circle, and this leads to the idea that there are 2 kinds of points as it is written in Kaballah.

So dealing with the Sephirot which are spheres, Pi has to be there already. This means that Pi is also a process and not just a definition of its own and it requires other definitions but it is also in a world prior to almost all or all human capability of understanding.

This means that Pi is related to Binah as it builds the perimeter of the circle endlessly, so in essence it keeps "Binah" active all the time, while Binah is supposed to "disappear" once the vessel is created and the CPU process is done, then you are supposed to be left with a structure that stands on its own and that becomes Chochmah. But you can't get that with a circle or sphere, it is endless. Only in the Physical realm is there an end to it and that end is where G-d decides to put it. Sh-adai, Sheaamar Leolamo Dai - "Who said to His world: 'enough'".

So Pi is Sh-adai literally, figurately and geometrically and is a binah structure in its' pure form and creates the most perfect Chohcmah structures in physical realms, which are able to take in and extract at the most efficient way possible.

I also think this is why the female organ of giving food - i.e support life to the baby looks like a circle with a dot inside where the baby takes the life/milk from the "center point" which brings to him mercy, Chesed-kindness that came to be from blood, Gevurah-justice, which is the Binah process of the female to reverse Gevurah with mercy. (note the Hebrew word for "breast" spells Sh-aday, ex:Shir Hashirim 8:1).

Thus, Pi comes from Crown but not directly, as it requires Point, but there are 2 kinds of Points as stated above. Pi therefore is Chochmah and Binah while SQRT2 is more associated with the crown. But since it a process of "square root" and also it derives from "2" which is already constructed out of twice "1" it is not pure crown, it is also Chochmah definition that you can use to construct, but it is also endless and so Binah process continues.

Me: "Sephirot are spheres". Do you have a source for that? Also, just to clarify you are saying 141 is primarily Efes/nothingness and not Mitzvah?

Oren: I read this somewhere and also heard this in a recent lecture by a famous Rabbi, saying it says so in Kabalah. This means that Pi is more fundamental than the creation of the Sephirot, you need "Pi" in order to have Sephirot, unless the shape of the sephirot can come after some kind of initial definition already took hold in reality. Since when breaking "apart" from the wholeness of the infinite "light" means some kind of "other" definition must take place, and the most fundamental definition which is required for the next definitions seems to be "point" and since Pi seems to be necessary in that definition, at least when we regard to the circular points, then it follows that Pi is prior to the sephirot, but again, there is a point that is not circular but rather it is the very basic concept of "something" that is not yet "something mamash" has 0 dimensions, takes no space etc.

Second question: Yes, it is Mitzvah of course, these things must be correlated and they are. Mitzvah is from Tzevet (joining), it makes the person join, unites the person with G-d, therefore he has a kedushah (holiness) Crown, so mitzvah brings the person to the root of the unity, of "2" root of "2" amazingly enough.

There would be no "mitzvah" unless there were "2" and the very act requires Daat-knowledge of Torah, which was acquired via Binah and Chochmah, and then doing it unites the "2" to the core. Like a root figuratively, a root of a tree is its life force and its stability etc.

In continuation to what we wrote about Mitzva making the 2 unite... We now ask: Where is the mitzvah's judgement/quality? On the acting? The speaking? (kind of act), thinking? Or is it in the will itself? It is mainly focused on the will, on the RATZON, the Keter (will corresponds to Keter) !!! i.e. someone who really wants to do a mitzvah, it will break though the worlds until it comes to Asiyah (doing) and it will be fulfilled, but if his will is less strong, it might not.. and if his will is strong, but things in reality block him from doing it, and he cannot do it, it is as if he did it in Shamayim!! So, again, Mitzvah is in the Keter mainly and it is root of "2" which is crown of Bereisheit, Chochmah, and it unites the "2" the person with G-d. It makes a Beit Hamikdash (temple) from the person, BEIT. A place to allow Shechinah (divine presence) to come. This is so deep and yet so simple and elegant , it is quite amazing to me. B"h Baruch Shemoh.

Me: you wrote: "it will break though the worlds until it comes to Asiya". Do you mean "until it comes to Keter"?

Oren: In a nutshell: No, the other way around, the will is "up there", is it strong? How strong? Stronger than the other wills? Like the will to go to sleep? The will to eat, etc. etc.? How strong is that will? Stronger than what will people around me say about me? Etc.. once the will is strong enough, for example - the will to stick to the truth (to G-d) no matter what, is stronger than all other wills the person has, then that will ignites the Chochmah sephirah so powerfully that it lights up all of his other Sephirot on the world where his will comes from (changes from person to person, each and his place where his soul is rooted from) and then the test is the Malchut on the next world, will it be strong enough to govern the wills over there?! If so, the Malchut from the previous world controls the next crown and gives that an "order from above" to comply with the "Keter Elyon" and it gets ignited and so on, and so forth until it reaches Olam Asiya, and if the will that comes from the Malchut that came from the initial crown etc comes to the crown in Asiya is still strong enough to overcome the wills of this world, the world of Asiya... then it will be fulfilled in this world, unless there is a blockage from Shamayim for whatever reason, and there could be many reasons.

Me: How do you know "Beit" of Bereisheit is Keter?

Oren: well, the lashon Hakodesh (hebrew) also shows it is keter, not that it isn't chochmah from another aspect. But look at the word: בראשית (Bereisheit). You see that the first letter is not part of the word, but rather it is a pre-fix meaning "inside" but the letter itself is not part of the word so the letter itself is like "floating" above it, not inside. Above what? Above ראש-ית We see the word "Rosh" (head) - well crown is above the head and if the CP (center point) inside the head, which is Daat is in kudshah, then the Keter is illuminated. So it is very obvious that this is Keter. However, the Keter immediately makes Chochmah illuminated the head and from there the entire sephirot. So this is to say, that I think - on a deeper meaning this beit is Keter or mainly Keter.

Me: Strange though as the upper worlds/sefirot are all spiritual which means no borders. whereas Pi is a border which seems to be a property of physical things. What in the world is Pi doing in spiritual phenomena?? Nekudah, Nekudah Emtzait, igul, - these are all analogies for spiritual things.

Oren: well, Pi is not exactly the border itself, but rather it defines the infinite perfect border in accordance to the CP and definition of "space" between them. In a point where space is infinitely small and so everything collapses into a single - point with no dimensions, then Pi does the same as above only the distance is 0 and not only the dimensions of the points themselves.

So Pi is too, a spiritual thing it is a "thought", a definition G-d decided to create and use in order to define other things. So it is a Chochmah structure for building more structures, but this structure is, to us human, not finite, but rather it is an infinite structure and therefore it seems to be a "process", but we experience time, therefore we cannot ever complete the process, and therefore it is like an endless Binah sephira working, but in relation to the infinite - above space/time all the infinite computations are done and Pi is revealed completely and is dependent not upon calculations but rather on the will of the creator, to limit it or not limit it as he wishes.

    Another time Oren told me:
In my opinion, and I have a lot to base this upon:
Everything G-d does is perfect, there is nothing going to waste. It is said that when Yehoshua was about to die he spoke with the people and they made a covenant to keep the Torah. Yehoshua brought a big stone to listen to the covenant and that it will keep the memory of it.

That concept is known today and is used as memory in computers, quartz crystal memory for example. In any case, even though the above example is very profound and we have a lot to explore there, I brought that to say that Pi was defined at the very beginning of creation, once the will of G-d was manifesting about bringing the Creation from Nothing to existence, therefore Pi's initial role is the expansion and contraction of Circle and Sphere, but it recorded everything in creation, it is part of every thing in creation, not just the initial, not just the point or the initial circle and spheres, it is in all realms, all Sefirot, all of life and matter and records, and holds information about it. The digits are like a story, a multidimensional story to be read. I wouldn't be surprised at all, if we would find out that the digits themselves can be arranged in more than a ray of a straight line and when rearranged, more information would be revealed.
In any case, that's how I see it: it is a function in reality + a "book" holding information like a tape recorder.
