SIYUM OF ERCHIN (17 Tamuz) - Dedicated in honor of the birthday of Mairav Linzer.

SIMILARITIES OF CHALAH AND TERUMAH (Yerushalmi Chalah Perek 1 Halachah 6 Daf 9a)

(Mishnah): Chalah and Terumah, [a Zar who eats them] is Chayav Misah [bi'Ydei Shamayim, if Mezid] for them, and [if he was Shogeg he adds a] Chomesh, and they are forbidden to Zarim. (ROSH - this is not a Chidush. Since it was taught in a Mishnah that contrasts them to Ma'aser, it was taught also here);

They are a Kohen's property, they are Batel in 101 [parts of a mixture with Chulin], they obligate Netilas Yadayim (before touching them) and Ha'arev Shemesh (one who immersed from Tum'ah is forbidden them until night);

2.

One may not separate them Tahor on Tamei, they are separated only Min ha'Mukaf (what he declares to be Chalah and Terumah is near what it exempts), and from something finished.

If one says 'my entire granary is Terumah' or 'my entire dough is Chalah', it has no effect, unless he left over some [to be Chulin].

(Gemara - R. Yudah bar Pazi citing R. Chanin citing R. Shmuel bar Rav Yitzchak): I would have thought that Chalah is Chulin (because these words have the same root), and therefore one may knead belittle it, therefore it needed to say that Chalah and Terumah, one is liable for them Misah and Chomesh. (We explained this like GILYONEI HA'SHAS.)

A man does 10 Mitzvos before he eats a piece [of bread] - do not plow [with an ox and donkey together], do not plant [Kil'ayim], do not muzzle [while plowing, leave for the poor] Leket, Shichechah and Pe'ah, [separate] Terumah, Ma'aser Rishon, Ma'aser Sheni and Chalah;

[One may not make everything Chalah, but one separates] Chalah on everything (the entire dough). [One may not make everything Terumah, but one separates] Terumah on everything (RIDVAZ).

"Terumah la'Shem" - this is Hash-m's special name (Yud Kei Vav Kei. This is an Asmachta to bless on separating Terumah - RIDVAZ.)

(h)

What is the source that [if one says 'my entire granary is Terumah' or 'my entire dough is Chalah',] it has no effect, unless he left over some? It says "me'Reishis", and not all Reishis.

1.

Note: Regarding Terumah, it says "Reishis"! PNEI MOSHE - "Reishis" implies that a remainder is seen. (Indeed, Chulin 136b says so. If so, the Torah could have written Reishis (without the Mem) also regarding Chalah, and we would expound similarly! - PF) Tosfos ha'Rosh (136b) - the Gemara does not learn from "Reishis" itself. Rather, it learns Terumah from Chalah, which is also called Reishis.
