LAWS SPECIAL TO THE FIVE GRAINS (Yerushalmi Chalah Perek 1 Halachah 2 Daf 5a)

(a)

(Mishnah): One who eats a k'Zayis of Matzah [of these five grains] was Yotzei the Mitzvah. [One who eats from them] a k'Zayis of Chametz is Chayav Kares.

If one of [these grains] became mixed with any species, [one who eats it] transgresses [a Lav] during Pesach.

If one vowed from bread and from grain, he is forbidden them. R. Meir says so;

(Gemara - R. Yakov bar Zavdi) Inference: (Our Mishnah discusses even a mixture of the grains; one is Yotzei or liable for a k'Zayis, for each species is not Batel in the others.) This teaches that one is lashed mid'Oraisa for their Chalah (of a mixture of them, unlike Reish Lakish said in Halachah 1)!

Rebuttal #1 (R. Yirmeyah citing R. Chiya bar Bari): The case is, he ate a k'Zayis of this species and a k'Zayis of this. (Neither is the majority, so there is no Bitul. Likewise, Chalah applies to equal amounts of two grains mixed together. This is how MASHBI'ACH explains Rebuttal #3.)

Rebuttal #2 (R. Yosi): You can even say that he ate a k'Zayis of all of them (mixed together. Chametz) is different, for all of them are [forbidden] due to Chametz (they are like one species).

Answer (R. Chiya citing R. Yochanan): [Chachamim argue only about the inference from R. Meir, that only one who vowed from bread and from grain is forbidden only the five grains. They add that also] one who vowed from Degen is forbidden only them.
