SEPARATING ON CHAYAV AND PATUR TOGETHER (Yerushalmi Chalah Perek 3 Halachah 5 Daf 18b)

(a)

(Mishnah): One who makes a dough from wheat and rice, if it has the taste of grain, it is obligated [in Chalah] and one is Yotzei with [such Matzah] on Pesach. If it does not have the taste of grain, it is not obligated, and one is not Yotzei with it on Pesach.

If one takes Se'or from a dough that its Chalah was not taken, and puts it in a dough that its Chalah was taken - if he has Parnasah elsewhere to fix it, he separates according to the calculation [of how much Chalah should be taken for the Se'or]. If not, he takes one [Chalah] for everything (Tevel forbids any amount, and it makes the entire dough Tevel).

Similarly, if harvested olives [which must be tithed] became mixed with Nikuf olives (of Pe'ah, which the Oni knocked down from the tree; they are exempt from Ma'aseros), or harvested grapes became mixed with Olelos grapes (which are exempt) - if he has Parnasah elsewhere to fix it, he separates according to the calculation [of how much Tevel]. If not, he takes Terumah and Terumas Ma'aser for everything (we consider all of it like Tevel), and other Ma'aser and Ma'aser Sheni according to the calculation.

(Gemara): Our Mishnah is unlike R. Shimon ben Gamliel, for R. Shimon ben Gamliel says, it is never obligated in Chalah unless there is a Shi'ur of grain.

Yisa is R. Asi of the Bavli, a Talmid of R. Yochanan. R. Yosi was a Talmid of R. Ze'ira. He would not have his own tradition of R. Yochanan's opinion, and his Rebbi (R.
