(a)

(Mishnah): An Aris that protrudes from a mound - R. Eliezer ben Yaakov says that if he can stand on the ground and harvest all of it, it prohibits within 4 Amos of a field; if not, it only prohibits opposite it.

(R. Elazar): Similarly, if one plants one on the ground and one on the mound, if it is 10 Tefachim tall, one does not combine with the other; if not, they combine.

(Gemara) (R. Shmuel bar Nachman/ R. Yonasan citing R. Eliezer): If he cut down the trunk of the vine until it is less than a Tefach from the ground, if it then grows, it is obligated in Orlah because of Maris HaAyin (as it looks like a newly planted vine).

(Chachamim): Only when he cut it down to the ground is it obligated in Orlah.

(R. Shmuel bar Nachman citing R. Yonasan citing R. Eliezer ben Yaakov): If one makes a pile of Leket, Shichechah and Peah (gifts to the poor that are not obligated in tithes), it is obligated in Terumah Gedolah because of Maris HaAyin (as it looks like a pile of Tevel).

(R. Shmuel bar Nachman citing R. Yonasan and R. Eliezer ben Yaakov citing Beis Shammai): A corpse is Metameh the 4 Amos around it in a public domain, to prevent people unnecessarily touching it in a way that is not respectful.

(R. Mana): The last law followed Beis Shammai, (but the first two follow all opinions).
