1)

A WIDOW WHO EATS OR DOES NOT EAT DUE TO CHILDREN (Yerushalmi Perek 9 Halachah 6 Daf 52b)

(a)

(Mishnah): If a Bas Yisrael married a Kohen, she eats Terumah. If he died and she has a son from him, she eats Terumah;

(b)

If she (then) married a Levi, she eats Ma'aser. If he died, and she has a son from him, she eats Ma'aser;

(c)

If she married a Yisrael, she may not eat Terumah or Ma'aser. If he died and she has a son from him, she may not eat Terumah or Ma'aser.

2)

ONE WHO ATE OR WAS FORBIDDEN DUE TO CHILDREN, AND THEY DIED (Yerushalmi Perek 9 Halachah 7 Daf 52b)

(a)

(Mishnah): If her son from the Yisrael died, she may eat Ma'aser. [If her son] from the Levi [then died], she may eat Terumah. If her son from the Kohen died, she may not eat Terumah or Ma'aser.

3)

WHEN A WIDOW EATS TERUMAH AND MA'ASER (Yerushalmi Perek 9 Halachah 8 Daf 52b)

(a)

(Mishnah): If a Bas Kohen married a Yisrael she may not eat Terumah. If he died and she has a son from him, she does not eat Terumah;

(b)

If she married a Levi, she eats Ma'aser. If he died and she has a son from him, she eats Ma'aser;

(c)

If she married a Kohen, she eats Terumah. If he died and she has a son from him, she eats Terumah;

(d)

If her son from the Kohen died, she may not eat Terumah. If her son from the Levi died, she may not eat Ma'aser. If her son from the Yisrael died, we apply "She will return to her father's house like when she was a Na'arah [she will eat from her father's bread]."

(e)

(Gemara) Question (Rav Liyonti, to R. Yonah): Granted, a Bas Kohen who married a Yisrael [and he died] returns and eats Terumah. A Bas Yisrael married to a Kohen, since she is proper to eat, why doesn't she eat [after he died]?

(f)

Answer #1 (R. Yonah): So said R. Ze'irah citing Rav Anan citing Rav - what is 'Bas Kohen'? It is one who is used to being by a Kohen (a Bas Yisrael who married a Kohen. Once she is widowed, she is not by a Kohen, so she ceases to eat);

1.

This is like it says "Bas Bavel ha'Shedudah." Was she Bas Bavel?! (The previous verse says "li'Vnei Edom"!) Rather, [Edom] did like the deed of Bavel (destroyed the Mikdash).

(g)

Answer #2 (R. Yosi bei R. Bun citing Rav): Two daughters are mentioned in the Parshah ("u'Vas Kohen Ki Sihyeh l'Ish Zar", and "u'Vas Kohen Ki Sihyeh Almanah...") - one returns and eats, and one returns and does not eat;

1.

A Bas Kohen who married a Yisrael [and he died] returns and eats. A Bas Yisrael married to a Kohen returns and does not eat.

(h)

Question: If so (the two verses teach this), there is no source that a Bas Kohen] who married a Kosher [Yisrael, and he died] returns and eats, but if she married a Pasul, she does not return and eat!

(i)

(Rav): The Halachah is, [she returns] and eats Terumah, but she does not return and eat Chazah v'Shok (parts of a Shelamim given to Kohanim).

(j)

(R. Yochanan): She returns and eats Chazah v'Shok.

(k)

Support (for Rav - R. Chiyah - Beraisa): "[U'Vas Kohen Ki Sihyeh Almanah...] mi'Lechem [Aviha Tochel" - she eats some of his food, i.e. Terumah, but not all of his food (i.e. Chazah v'Shok).

(l)

Support (for R. Yochanan - R. Shimon ben Yochai - Beraisa): "Mi'Lechem Aviha Tochel" includes loaves brought with a Korban Todah and wafers of a Nazir. (Presumably, the same applies to Chazah v'Shok.)
