(Mishnah - R. Shimon): He gives it to a friend, who [takes it less than four Amos and] gives it to a friend... until reaching the outermost Chatzer of the city (the closest guarded place).

The same applies to his son. (This will be explained.) Even 100 people may be involved.

R. Yehudah says, one may give a barrel to a friend, who gives it to a friend... even to take it outside the Techum.

Chachamim: One may not take it past where its owner may go.

(Gemara - R. Eliezer and R. Avdimi, both citing R. Mana): One of them said that [our Mishnah] discusses a child in danger.

Question (the other Amora): If it discusses a child in danger, he should bring him himself!

Answer (the first Amora): The case is, he can bring him in a permitted way [without increasing the danger].

(Reish Lakish citing Levi Sukiyah): [R. Yehudah] discusses pouring from barrel to barrel.

This is like R. Yehudah taught elsewhere, that R. Yehudah exempts water [from Techumim], for it is not significant.
