(R. Yakov bar Acha citing R. Lazar): [In our Mishnah, the first Tana (R. Meir) and R. Yehudah] argue about Bitul Reshus. R. Meir says that he can be Mevatel Reshus. Rabanan (R. Yehudah) say that he cannot be Mevatel Reshus.

Question: [If] R. Meir says that he can be Mevatel Reshus, why do you (i.e. did he) say [in our Mishnah that R. Gamliel's father said] "hurry [before he forbids you]?!'' (If he was Mevatel, we are not concerned if afterwards he takes Kelim into the Mavoy!)

Answer: Even though R. Meir says that he can be Mevatel Reshus, he agrees that this is only if the others acquire first in the Mavuy. (If he takes out Kelim first, he takes back his Reshus.)

Support (Beraisa): Because [a Tzeduki] can be Mevatel his Reshus like a Yisrael. R. Meir says so.

Question: [Mishnah 4 below teaches that if one gave his Reshus and then took something out,] whether this was b'Shogeg or b'Mezid, he forbids! (This connotes even if the other took out their Kelim first.)

Answer: The text of the Mishnah should say "he does not forbid.'' (We explained this like PNEI MEIR.)

(R. Acha citing R. Chinena): All agree that he can be Mevatel Reshus. About what do they argue? [They argue about] retraction. R. Meir holds that he can be Mevatel Reshus and cannot retract. Rabanan hold that he can be Mevatel Reshus and can retract.

Question: If R. Meir holds that he can be Mevatel Reshus and cannot retract, why do you (i.e. did he) say [that R. Gamliel said] "hurry''?! (There was no need to do so!)

Answer: Even though R. Meir says that he can be Mevatel Reshus, he agrees that this is only if the others acquire first in the Mavuy. (If he takes out Kelim first, he takes back his Reshus.)
