DAF DISCUSSIONS - MEGILAH 17

Ralph Serouya asks:

Are you supposed to say zedim or minim at the end of Laminim?

Ralph Serouya, West Long Branch, U.S.A.

The Kollel replies:

In Yechaveh Da'at (5:8), after much discussion, Rebbi Ovadyah Yosef Shlita says the correct text is "Zeidim."

All the best,

Yaakov Montrose

Sam Kosofsky comments:

Rebbe,

I assume that Chacham Ovadya's Psak is for Sefardim, Edot Hamizrach and Nusach Sfard daveners. Nusach Ashkenaz ends with zedim and doesn't mention minim anywhere in v'lamalshinim al tehi tikvah even though it seems to me that the Gemara makes a point of saying minim and is suspect of those who don't say that word.

B'kavod,

Sam Kosofsky
