Why does the Mishnah say vikoneh es atzmah baget uvmisos habaal if it's from heaven that she does
Mordechai Chrein, Cedarhurst, usa
Sholom Rav,
Everything is from Heaven! The Mishnah says 've'koneh es atzmah', as opposed to the previous cases, where she is acquired by her husband. The fact that her husband's death was orchestrated in Heaven is immaterial.

So why is the Gemara worried? When the Gemara wants the Mishnah to say Ha'ish koneh U' makneh... The Gemara says that we can't because the husband doesn't control his death it's from heaven, so why don't we say the same thing for the wife? She doesn't acquire herself, it's from heaven.
Sholom Rav.
The fact is that, whereas the dead man is not Makneh the woman her freedom, the woman does acquire herself. As I wrote originally, the fact that this is min Ha'Shamayim is irrelevant.
