DAF DISCUSSIONS - MOED KATAN 8

alex lebovits asked:

Rav Yehuda learns 'mechanchin' to mean shorten .

Why would he allow the shortening of a niche for a 'mes' on Chol HaMoed; if the niche is able to contain a long person wouldn't medium and short fit in as well?!

The Kollel replies:

The Tiferes Yisrael explains that it is not considered a "Tircha" -- "bother" to shorten the Kever, and it is therefore permitted.

All the best,

Yaakov Montrose
