The Gemara sites Avraham avinu getting up in the morning as proof that zerizus would not be a reason for the chachamim to have us do a bedikah at night. However we saw earlier in the mesechta that "ki tov" taught us not to travel at night. So maybe that's why Avraham didn't leave at night. If he was doing the akeda at home maybe he'd have done it at night.

Tosfos (DH "she'Nemar") essentially asks your question (from a slightly different angle) and answers that since messengers who are sent to do Mitzvos are not damaged, Avraham would not have waited to travel for this type of reason (see Tosfos at length).
