How was Uziel the uncle of Aharon?

1.

Rashi: He was Amram's brother.

2)

Why does the Torah need to inform us that Uziel was Aharon's uncle?

1.

Sifra: To teach us that his Midos were similar to those of Aharon. Like Aharon, he was an Oheiv Shalom ve'Rodeif Shalom 1

1

See Oznayim la'Torah. Refer also to 10:4:153:1.

3)

Why was the removal of the bodies of Nadav and Avihu from the Kodesh necessary?

1.

Rashi: As a person would say to his friend 'Remove the dead body from before the Kalah'. 1

1

With reference to the Simchah of the inauguration of the Mishkan. Refer to Sifsei Chachamim.

4)

The Sifra (Mechilta d'Milu'im 26) learns from here that Kohanim may not become Tamei Meis. We already know this from the Pasuk in Emor 21:1 "Lo Yitama be'Amav"? Moreover, a Kohen Hedyot has a Mitzvah to become Tamei for his relatives?

1.

Da'as Zekenim, Hadar Zekenim and Moshav Zekenim: A Kohen Hedyot on the day he is anointed 1 is like a Kohen Gadol. This is why Elazar and Isamar were forbidden to grow their hair long or tear their clothes. 2

2.

Refer to 10:6:1:2.

1

After the Milu'im, only a Kohen Gadol was anointed? It seems that he is referring to the day a Kohen Hedyot is inaugurated, when he brings an Asiris ha'Eifah, like a Kohen Gadol. (Refer to 6:13:1:1, 6:13:3:1). (PF)

2

As the Torah explains in Pasuk 7 "Ki Shemen Mishchas Hashem Aleichem". Nevertheless, they were not totally like Kohanim Gedolim. Refer to 10:6:1:2**, 10:19155:1. (PF)

5)

Why is "Dod" written Chaser (without a Vav)?

1.

Moshav Zekenim: We read it like Dud (a nipple) - because [his Midos were a perfect replica of Aharon] as if he nursed from Aharon! Just like Aharon pursued Shalom and loved Shalom 1 , so did he.

1

Moshav Zekenim: Also Moshe was a Chasid. But h could not pursue Shalom like Aharon, since he was a judge, and once a judge knows what the verdict will be, he is not permitted to suggest compromise (Sanhedrin 6a).

6)

Why are there two Ta'amim (notes) on the word "Kirvu"?

1.

Pesikta Zutresa: This hints that Misha'el and Eltzafan were afraid to enter to take them out, so Moshe needed to tell them twice ("Vayikra" "Vayomer"). 1

See Oznayim la'Torah, who elaborates. See also Ba'al ha'Turim.

QUESTIONS ON RASHI

7)

Rashi writes that they removed their bodies, like one who says 'Remove the Meis from beore the Kalah.' If not for this, would they have left them there?

1.

Bartenura: "Me'Eis Pnei ha'Kodesh" is superfluous 'to teach us that it is like someone who says
