Bachye: And the Midrash compares it to emmiseries of the king who reported to the king that the woman he intended to marry was the ugliest woman in the world, but the king?s friend countered that she was in fact, beautiful. When the time of the wedding arrived, the woman?s father did not perit the king?s emissaries to attend beause they had demeaned his daughter before the king. And when he subsequently refused the king?s friend entry, the latter reminded him that, as opposed to the king?s emissaries, he had praised his daughter ? despite the fact that he had not even seen her.

Why was Moshe so keen to enter Eretz Yisrael and to see it?
Seforno: He wanted to enter the land in order to destroy the Cana'anim totally, so that Yisrael would never be expelled from the land and to see it in order to bless it that it should always be good for Yisrael.

Rashi #1, Targum Onkelos and Targum Yonasan: They refer to Yerushalayim 1 and the Beis-Hamikdash 2 (which whitens the sins of Yisrael - Torah Temimah, citing the Sifri). 3 respectively.
Rashi #2 (in Hoshe'a, 3:5): "ha'Har ha'Tov ha'Zeh" refers to the Beis-Hamikdash.
