THE BANQUET OF SHLOMO IN HIS TIME OF GLORY

Translation: It once happened that R. Yochanan ben Masya said to his son, 'Go out and hire workers for us'. He went and agreed to supply them with food. And when he returned to his father, his father said to him, 'My son, even if you prepare a banquet for them like Shlomo's in his time of glory, you would not have fulfilled your obligation with them, because they are children of Avraham, Yitzchak and Yaakov'.

Why did the Gemara add the phrase "in his time of glory"?

1.

Ben Yehoyada: Since there was a period when Shlomo was ousted from his throne, the Gemara is emphasising that it is even discussing when Shlomo was at his time of glory.
