Which Tzadik perished?

1.

Rashi: E.g. Yoshiyah.

2.

Radak: It does not discuss a particular Tzadik, rather, Tzadikim who passed from that generation. "V'Anshei Chesed Ne'esafim" repeats the matter in different words; they are gathered to their nation. The Tzadik himself is not lost - his Neshamah is in pleasant life, better than physical life! Rather, he is lost from his generation; they lose.

3.

Malbim: It does not discuss a particular Tzadik, rather, Tzadikim die just like Resha'im.

2)

What do people not put to heart?

1.

Rashi: Why the Tzadik died.

2.

Radak #1: To rebuke Yisrael for these evil deeds.

3.

Radak #2: Refer to 57:1:3:2.

4.

Malbim: The death of a Tzadik Bein Adam la'Makom. However, "Anshei Chesed", who benefit their colleagues, people heed their death; they eulogize and mourn over them.

3)

What does no one understand?

1.

Rashi: Not one of the remaining people understand why Hashem decided to remove the Tzadik.

2.

Radak: They do not understand that "Mipnei ha'Ra'ah Ne'esaf ha'Tzadik" - he died early due to the evil that will come on that generation, lest he see it. This is like Chuldah told Yoshiyah "Hineni Osifcha Al Avosecha

4)

What do we learn from "Mipnei ha'Ra'ah Ne'esaf ha'Tzadik"?

1.

Sanhedrin 113b: When a Tzadik leaves the world, evil comes to the world. (Rashi - "Mipnei" means before.)

2.

Rashi: Due to the evil that will come on the generation, the Tzadik died.

3.

Malbim: They say that the Tzadik died due to evil that he had in his lifetime - he fasted and lacked everything, therefore he died before his time.
