What is "Derech Otzev"?

1.

Rashi: It is a painful and ruinous way.

2.

Radak, Malbim #1: It is a rebellious way - "v'Hemah Maru v'Itzevu Es Ru'ach Kodsho" (Yeshayah 63:10).

3.

Malbim #2: It is the way of idolatry 1 .

1

Perhaps the text of Malbim should say "Atzabeihem" (106:36, 115:4), which are idols. (PF)

2)

Why did he say "u'Necheni b'Derech Olam"?

1.

Radak: If You see any rebellious way in me, kill me immediately! This is like "Hine Anochi Holech b'Derech Kol ha'Aretz" (Melachim I, 2:2), "Ki Holech Adam El Beis Olamo" (Koheles 12:5). Malbim - it is better that I die meritorious, and not liable. Therefore, if You see that I am prepared to go in an evil way, take me from the world.

2.

Seforno: Guide me in the way to eternal life.
