How is Yerushalayim "b'Soch ha'Goyim"?

1.

Rashi: It is in the middle of the world.

2.

Radak: I put its residents in it for their benefit, for it is the choicest land - "Yefe Nof Mesos Kol ha'Aretz" (Tehilim 48:3). It is in the middle of the settled world. Therefore, its air is better than that of all lands.

3.

Malbim: Many Goyim dwelled in Eretz Yisrael from the seven Kena'ani nations and others.

4.

Refer to 5:6:1:2.

What do we learn from "u'Sevivoseha Aratzos"?

1.

Radak: Its residents should have gone in the straight path and do good Mishpatim. In place of this they did evil more than the Goyim around them (refer to 5:6:3:1). Those Goyim did not switch their laws, and [Yisrael] "switched My laws" (6) without benefit.

2.

Malbim: Around Eretz Yisrael are lands of other kings.
