Radak #1: If it refers to Shlomo, it is like it says "Ki Hu Rodeh b'Chol Ever ha'Nahar mi'Tifsach v'Ad Azah" (Melachim I, 5:4). This is without Eretz Yisrael. About Eretz Yisrael it says "v'Shati Es Gevulcha mi'Yam Suf v'Ad Yam Pelishtim umi'Midbar Ad ha'Nahar" (Shemos 23:31).

If they hold that Yam Suf is now called the Red Sea, why did they not say Yam Suf? (PF)

What is "umi'Nahar Ad Afsei Aretz"?

Rashi: This is like it says about Shlomo "Ki Hu Rodeh b'Chol Ever ha'Nahar..." (Melachim I, 5:4). Radak - it is past Eretz Yisrael.

Radak: It says about Shlomo "Moshel b'Chol ha'Mamlachos" (Melachim I, 5:1). I.e. all kings of the land feared him and obeyed him and brought gifts to him.

Radak, based on Ibn Ezra: "Umi'Nahar" is the river that comes out of Eden, which is the beginning of the east. Afsei Aretz is the end of the west.

Why does it now teach about the extent of his reign?

Malbim: Via doing Mishpat, he will merit three things. (a) Great authority to crush nations under his feet. Also refer to 72:10:1:3, 72:11:1:1.
