REMOVING TO PERMIT A MIXTURE (Yerushalmi Orlah Perek 2 Halachah 1 Daf 9a)

åòåìéï áàçã åîàä:

(a)

(Mishnah): They are Batel in 101 [one must remove their amount from the mixture and give it to a Kohen].

îä àú òáéã ìä áúçéìú äôøùä àå áñåó äôøùä

(b)

Question: How do you consider [what one must remove] - is it like initial (Vadai) separation [of Terumah, Chalah...], or final separation?

àéï úéîø áúçéìú äôøùä àéï ä÷èï îòìä åàéï àçø îòìä åàéðå ãåçä àú äùáú åàéï úòáãéðéä áñåó [äôøùä] ÷èï îòìä åàçø îòìä åãåçä àú äùáú.

1.

If you will say that it is like initial separation, a minor may not separate it, someone else may not separate it (without authorization), and it is not Docheh (one may not separate it on) Shabbos. If you will say that it is like final separation, a minor may separate it, someone else may separate it, and it is Docheh Shabbos.

(c)

(Mishnah - R. Yehudah): We may be Ma'aleh Meduma (remove the amount that fell in, on Shabbos) if there are 101 [in the mixture].

(d)

(Beraisa - R. Shimon ben Elazar): If he wants, he puts his eyes (designates) one part, and eats from the rest.

[ãó éæ òîåã á (òåæ åäãø)] àîø øáé éåðä øáé éåãä òáã ìä áñåó äôøùä. åøáé ùîòåï áï àìòæø òáã ìä áúçéìú äôøùä.

(e)

(R. Yonah): R. Yehudah considers it like final separation (therefore he permits on Shabbos), and R. Shimon ben Elazar considers it like initial separation.

àîø øáé éåñé àó øáé ùîòåï áï àìòæø òáã ìä áñåó äôøùä. åìà îåãé øáé ùîòåï áï àìòæø ùàñåø ìòùåú ëï áåãàé.

(f)

Rebuttal (R. Yosi): Even R. Shimon ben Elazar considers it like final separation. Does R. Shimon ben Elazar not agree that it is forbidden to do so with Vadai?!

(g)

Question: [If so], why [does he forbid physical separation on Shabbos]?

Answer: One may not do like he does during the week.
