(Mishnah): R. Yehudah ben Bava taught further, that if a garden or Karfef 70 Amos and a fraction by 70 Amos and a fraction is surrounded by a fence 10 Tefachim tall, one may carry inside, as long as there is a watchman's shack or Beis Dirah inside, or it is close to the city.

(Gemara - R. Shmuel bar Nachman citing R. Yonason): They learned from Chatzer ha'Mishkan - "Orech he'Chatzer Me'ah va'Amah v'Rochav Chamishim ba'Chamishim.'' Fifty times 100 is 5000 [square Amos]; 70 by 70 is 5000 less 100. Our Mishnah teaches 70 Amos and a remainder (the remainder is to complete the missing 100);

(Shmuel): [Our Mishnah] teaches 70 Amos and two thirds (add a third in every direction). Seventy times 23t (added to the length) and 70 times two thirds (added to the width) is [another] 140 thirds and 140 thirds, which are 93 and a third (so six and two thirds are still lacking). Deduct four ninths [from what is lacking, due to the additions] in the four corners;

There remain [lacking] 19 thirds lest a ninth. This is like was taught, there is a small amount [lacking], and Chachamim could not gauge it. (There is no rational number that makes the calculation exact.)

A Karfef that has Sa'atayim, one may carry in it only within four Amos.

(R. Ze'ira citing R. Yochanan): If there were two [Karfifos breached to each other], this has a Beis Se'ah and this has a Beis Se'ah less four Amos, one may carry [anywhere] in the second, as completion for the first (even together they are not Sa'atayim);

(R. La citing R. Yochanan): One may not carry in the second as completion for the first [lest one do so even when the first is Beis Sa'atayim].

(R. Ze'ira): R. La agrees that if there were three - this has a Beis Se'ah, this has a Beis Se'ah and this has a Beis Se'ah - they agree that one may carry in the second as completion for the first. (Even if you consider them connected, this is permitted, for three are like a caravan, and they are permitted more than Beis Sa'atayim - PNEI MEIR.)

(R. Avahu): If a Karfef has up to Beis Sa'atayim [but was not Hukaf l'Dirah], since it is proper to permit it through a caravan, if one threw from Reshus ha'Rabim to it, he is liable (it is a full Reshus ha'Yachid mid'Oraisa).

Objection #1 (R. Shmuel bar Rav Yitzchak): When a caravan will stay there [he will be liable! Until then,] to forbid, it is forbidden [mid'Rabanan], but there is no Chiyuv Chatas.

Objection #2: If so, a roofed Mavuy, since it is Kosher [to carry in it, even without a Lechi or Korah], if one threw from Reshus ha'Rabim to it, he is liable!

Objection #3: If a Mavuy was breached more than 10, since a breached Mavuy according to R. Yehudah [one may carry in it] until there is a breach of 13, if one threw from Reshus ha'Rabim to it, he is liable!

A Chatzer open to a Karfef, one may transfer from the Chatzer to the Karfef, but not from the Karfef to the Chatzer.

Question (R. Yudan Antudarya): May one transfer from a Karfef to a Karfef via a Chatzer?
