The Gemorah answers that the 'person' did not gather the atzomois of his parents and therefore did not become Tomeh and that someone else was gathering them on his behalf.

The Mishnah is teaching us that, although a regular Onein is not allowed to eat Kodshim the night after his relative died, the Melaket Atzamos under discussion is. This is because his Aninus by day is only mi'de'Rabbanan, so the Chachamim did not decree Aninus the following night, as Rashi explains.
