DAF DISCUSSIONS - BAVA METZIA 37

Robert Chesler asked:

Does this mean that before either (the mother or the son) died, the mother's heirs (other than the son) stood to inherit her things, and the son's heirs (brothers? or other relatives) stood to inherit his things, and we say the things were in these respective heirs' posession? And maintain that as if order of death were not a factor since some orders of death could take items further away from ready heirs?

Robert

The Kollel replies:

You've got the right idea. But obviously before death it is not actually in their possession. (I think you mean 37B1 note 11)
