DAF DISCUSSIONS - BAVA KAMA 63

ronald gordon asked:

The concept of Gerama b'Nizakin Patur albeit not in a heavenly court and even though one is expected to make a voluntary settlement strikes against any sense of fairness. the many examples given in the sugia seem to work onlyon the basis of a legal quibble.

can you help me in this?

The Kollel replies:

The "ultimate injustice" seems to be that the perpetrator does not have to pay. However, if someone is a Jew who realizes that ultimately Hash-m still judges the world and metes out reward and punishment, he will realize that the person did not escape punishment in the slightest. Rather, it is not a punishment that is designated for mortals to hand out.

All the best,

Yaakov Montrose
