The Kollel replies:
The Ran (on Rif Chulin end of fourth Perek) says that Darkei ha'Emori only applies where the act has no recognisable effect. Therefore things that help recovery from illness are not considered Darkei Emori at all. This is also the opinion of the Rema (YD 178:1). However, the Gemara in Pesachim is discussing Avoda Zara where any type of benefit is prohibited.
