What is the significance of returning from "Ginas ha'Bisan"?

1.

Torah Temimah citing Megilah 16a: We equate "rose in his anger" to "he returned from the garden" - he also returned in anger. He found angels that appeared like people, cutting down trees of his orchard. They told him that Haman commanded to do so. Vilna Gaon (7) - because he slandered Yisrael with Sheker, so Hashem did to him. This is like He did to Pharaoh - "va'Ynatzlu Es Mitzrayim 1 " (Shemos 12:36), and Lavan 2 . "Ki Yashar Hashem Tzuri v'Lo Aylasah Bo" (Tehilim 92:16) - sometimes it looks like Hashem does Avlah (fraud), but the Avlah is not in Him. They already did a great Avlah, and He punishes them Midah k'Neged Midah.

1

Presumably, he means that Yisrael asked to borrow Kelim, and did not return them. (PF)

2

Rashi (Bereishis 31:10): Angels brought Lavan's goats to mate with Yakov's flock, so the babies would have the appearances that belong to Yakov.

2)

Why does it say "Haman falls on the bed"?

1.

Rashi citing Megilah 16a: An angel was pushing him on Esther.

2.

Vilna Gaon: The simple meaning is, amidst great pain, he could not stand, and fell.

3)

Why was Esther on a bed?

1.

Rashi: The norm was to recline on beds at a meal. At Achashverosh's Mishteh, there were beds of gold and silver (1:6).

4)

What is the meaning of "ha'Gam Lichbosh"?

1.

Rashi: This is said in astonishment - will he force (rape) her?, This is like "v'Nichbeshah ha'Aretz" (Bamidbar 32:22).

2.

Vilna Gaon: He thought that he wants to kill her. Malbim - initially he wanted to kill her amidst her nation. Will you kill her with me in the house?! One who is Chayav Misah and flees to Beis ha'Melech, he is not killed 1 - will you kill the queen in the palace?!

1

I do not know Malbim's source for this. (PF)

5)

What is the meaning of "u'Fnei Haman Chafu"?

1.

Ibn Ezra: It is known from Persian Seforim that their custom was to cover the face of someone at whom the king is angry. Malbim - this assuages his anger.

2.

Vilna Gaon: He was embarrassed. He could not answer that he requested his life, for how could he? Haman said that it is proper to kill her nation!
