Why does it say "Im Nichlemu"?
Rashi: If they are ashamed and cover their faces due to all that they did, then inform them what I will do for them.
Radak: If they are ashamed due to all that they did, inform them of the design of the Bayis and its form, and they will see the future Bayis and make it. If not, do not tell them.
Malbim: The time to build the Bayis the way Yechezkel saw will be at the time of Tikun when they purify from their sins. Therefore, they should be told only if they are ashamed and repent fully. One who sins and is ashamed of it, all his sins are pardoned (Brachos 12b).
What is "Tzuras ha'Bayis"?
Rashi: The border of the building ? how it is arranged in front and in back, in all four directions.
Radak: Everything within the wall of Har ha'Bayis is included in "Bayis".
Malbim: This is the form mandatory for every Bayis built for Hashem ? the Mishkan, Bayis Rishon, Sheni and Shelishi. There must be Azarah, Heichal and Kodesh ha'Kodoshim, essential gates and rooms, and all the essential Kelim ? Mizbach ha'Olah, Mizbach ha'Ketores, Shulchan, Menorah?
What is "u'Sechunaso"?
Rashi: The calculation of its cells and chambers.
What are "Motza'av u'Mova'av"?
Radak: The gates mentioned.
What does [the first] "v'Chol Tzurosav" come to include?
Rashi: I found a Perush that said Keruvim, Timorim, Eilim and Ilamim.
Radak: The form of each Bayis by itself 1 .
Malbim: These are matters only for Bayis Shelishi. They could not do so in the days of Ezra, even though they knew Yechezkel's words, for they knew that the time of Tikun had not arrived.
I do not understand this. Radak said that "Bayis" includes everything within the wall of Har ha'Bayis. This includes each Bayis by itself! (PF)
What are "Kol Chukosav"?
Radak: What is proper to guard, in the buildings, tables and chambers.
Malbim: These are hidden matters that will be revealed only at the time of Bayis Shelishi (refer to 43:11:5:3).
What does [the latter] "v'Chol Tzuroso" come to include?
Rashi: I do not know.
Radak: The forms of the Keruvim and Timorim.
Malbim: These are matters that are not essential and can change from the Mishkan to Bayis Rishon or from Rishon to Sheni. Some matters they had a tradition from Nevi'im that they may do [like it says here]. Their reason is known.
What do we learn from "v'Chol Torosav"?
Radak: The division of the Azaros for Kohanim, Yisraelim and women.
What do we learn from "u'Chsov l'Eineihem"?
If Yechezkel was commanded to write this Sefer of his Nevu'os, we must say that he wrote more than is written here! (PF)
This is not in order to build Bayis Shelishi. In the previous verse, Malbim said that it is already built and finished, only sins are delaying it! Also refer to 43:11:10:3.
How will they guard the forms?
Rashi: They will learn the measures from you, to do them at the time. It was proper for the second entrance [to Eretz Yisrael], of Ezra, to be like the first of Yehoshua, with a [strong] arm and miracles, like we expound "Ad Ya'avor" (Shemos 15:16). This Binyan that Yechezkel saw, it was proper for them when they ascended from Galus to have a permanent redemption. Sin caused that their return was not permanent. Their Teshuvah was not proper, i.e. in order that they not sin [again]. They left with Koresh's permission and built for themselves. Some say that in Bavel they stumbled with Nochriyos.
Radak: They will guard them in their hearts, and believe that so it will be. They will make the buildings, forms and Toros in the future. If they will not guard them in their hearts, and not believe, they will not make them. Hashem bestows to man Midah k'Neged Midah ? one who believes that the redeemer will come, he will merit redemption. If he does not believe, he will not merit. Similarly, one who believes in Techiyas ha'Mesim, he will merit revival. If he does not believe, he will not merit.
Malbim: They will guard the forms and Chukim to conduct with the proper Kedushah, Taharah and good deeds. The forms show clinging to Hashem and His Kedushah permanently!
What do we learn from "v'Asu Osam"?
Radak: (The people that Yechezkel tells, they will make the Bayis like it says here.) It cannot mean that they will make these forms in Bayis Sheni, for many things here are unlike Bayis Sheni! You are forced to say that this Binyan is for the future. This is a great proof for Techiyas ha'Mesim 1 !
What is the proof? Perhaps had they merited, they would have built Bayis Sheni like it says here. They did not ? perhaps others will build Bayis Shelishi like it says here (and so Rashi implies)! Perhaps Radak infers that since we do not find that Hashem commanded Ezra to build unlike it says here, it was understood that Yechezkel's Nevu'ah was not for Bayis Sheni. (PF)
