Why did she not say, '... in a loud voice,' like she did above (39:14)?
Ha'amek Davar: It is not normal to scream so loud about mere frivolity and disgrace, 1 rather, to give a mild scream to rebuke. She said that she called to the household to rebuke him as well.
What is the meaning of, "he fled outside"?
Ha'amek Davar: He did not go the market; he merely left the room, lest I rebuke him more. 1
Ha'amek Davar: Since she did not hear anything from the market, she realized that she erred. She had inferred from Yosef's words that he enticed others of the house; from the household's response, she realized that she erred. She needed to complain to her husband, for it was publicized in the house that something happened with Yosef. If not for the publicity (i.e. that she had already told the household), it would have been better for her to silence the matter. We learn from here that one should refuse to do Aveiros because they are Aveiros! One should not add reasons like Yosef did; this made great problems for him!
