What does the verse teach about the other side of the Kush rivers?

1.

Rashi: From there they will bring to Me a gift. Malbim - not only nations in the middle of civilization - rather, even those on the other side of the Kush rivers [will bring a gift].

2.

Radak: It discusses those who live there. Targum Yonasan says, these are the rivers of Hodu 1 (India).

1

This is like the opinion in Megilah 11a that Hodu and Kush are adjacent. (PF)

2)

Who are "Asarai"?

1.

Rashi: Those who pray to Me.

2.

Radak: Asarai Bas Putzi is the name of a nation or family on the other side of the Kush rivers.

3.

Radak 1 : Hashem calls Yisrael so, for Ye'ater (He accedes) to them.

4.

Malbim: They are idolaters who do all abominations.

1

Radak cites Targum Yonasan. Our text of Yonason does not give the reason. (PF)

3)

What is the meaning of "Bas Putzi"?

1.

Rashi, Targum Yonasan: The congregations of those whom I scattered.

2.

Refer to 3:10:2:2, 4.

4)

What gift will they bring?

1.

Radak: They will bring Yisrael to Yerushalayim, like it says "Hoy Eretz Tziltzal Kenafayim Asher me'Ever l'Naharei Kush", ba'Es ha'Hi Yuval Shai la'Shem Tzevakos Im Memushach u'Morat" (Yeshayah 18:1, 7). Targum Yonasan says, with mercy they will return the Galus of My nation that was exiled, and they will bring them for a Korban 1 .

1

Malbim: "V'Hevi'u Es Kol Acheichem... Minchah" (Yeshayah 66:20). These nations will bring those who were cast off in Galus Sancheriv.
