Those who escape and will not die, their limbs will be stricken - "v'Einav Timaknah v'Choreihen u'Leshono Timak b'Fihem" (Zecharyah 14:12) - they will be a sign for all nations that will go amidst them.

Radak: It is like fruits, e.g. "v'Nasnah ha'Aretz Yevulah" (Vayikra 26:4).

What is the significance of "Ein Yevul ba'Gefanim"?

Malbim: The rumors will say that when they see the entire world desolate and destroyed, they should look forward to salvation - the generation in which Ben David will come, great afflictions will arise, there will be many afflictions (Sanhedrin 97a). Vines will not give their fruits, there will be hunger, and many evils.

Malbim (Bi'ur ha'Milos): This is unlike Averos (or Urvos), from the root Arah. There, the animals are in the open air (Avir), not confined within walls.
