What are the implications of the double expression "Yitamu ve'Sham Yamusu"?

Oznayim la'Torah: "Yitamu" refers to the current generation, who were destined to perish in the desert, and "ve'Sham Yamusu", to future generations, who would go into exile 'in the desert of the nations' - on account of the sin of the Meraglim. 1

Sanhedrin, 110b: It implies that the Dor ha'Midbar have no portion in Olam in Olam ha?Ba and will not arise on the day of judgement. 2
