THE LAND AROUND THREE TREES (Yerushalmi Halachah 2 Daf 17a)

(a)

R. Yochanan: If a person buys three trees, he acquires the land between them and beneath them and away from them as much as the space a fig picker needs to stand with his basket.

(b)

Question (R. Elazar): He does not acquire a path that leads to the trees; rather, he must buy it. So how could you say that he receives space for a picker with his basket? (Note: The Gemara does not respond to this question.)
