The Torah gives the reason as to why one should not abhor an Adomi or a Mitzri completely. Why would we have otherwise thought that one should?

Rashi: "An Adomi" because they came out to you with their swords, and "a Mitzri", because they threw your babies into the River Nile.

Da'as Zekenim: Edom did not let us pass through to get to Eretz Yisrael, and the Egyptians forced us to work.

Hadar Zekenim: The Egyptians forced us to work, and Edom should have greeted us with bread and water (We do not distance Mo'av for this, since they sold food and water to us. If so, we must say that Edom did not even do that, and "Ochel ba'Kesef Tashbireni ... Ka'asher Asu li B'nei Esav... ve'ha'Mo'avim" (2:29) means that both Eisav and Mo'av did not let us pass through their land - Rosh). 1
