What does this Perek discuss?

1.

Rashi: Yirmeyah wrote it to lament over Yoshiyah 1 , like it says "ha'Lo Hinam Kesuvim Al ha'Kinos" (Divrei ha'Yamim II, 35:25). With it, he lamented also over other Bnei Tziyon.

2.

Palgei Mayim: It is known that Hashem poured His anger on wood and rocks of the Beis ha'Mikdash. How was it so extreme, that the Aron was hidden and the good Kesem was totally forgotten, and the rocks of the Mikdash were cast outside?!

1

R. Avigdor: He hated idolatry and eradicated it from the world, and he died immediately via arrows like Achav!

2)

What is the meaning of "Yu'am Zahav"?

1.

Rashi: The face that shined like gold, its appearance weakened. The Targum of "Kehah" (Vayikra 13:6) is Amya.

2.

Ibn Ezra #1: It darkened. The Targum of "Kehah" is Amya. Ri Kara, Rid - this is like "Kol Sasum Lo Amemucha", "Arazim Lo Amemuhu" (Yechezkel 28:3, 31:8). It is past tense written in future tense.

3.

Ibn Ezra #2: This is [covering,] like "Lo Amemuhu" (Yechezkel 31:8). Its grammatical form is like "Lechem Yurak" (Yeshayah 28:28).

4.

Ibn Ezra #3: [How] can gold be valued [like the other six 1 ]? This is a Mashal for verse 2.

5.

Palgei Mayim: [How was hidden] the gold of the Beis ha'Mikdash, i.e. the Aron?

1

Magihah (in Toras Chayim): The other six metals listed in Tanach, in Bamidbar 31:22. The others are silver, copper, iron, lead and tin. (He should have said the other of the six, since gold is one of the six! - PF)

3)

What is "Yishne"?

1.

Rashi: It changes its appearance.

2.

Palgei Mayim: It was forgotten.

4)

What is "ha'Kesem"?

1.

Rav Sadya Gaon: It is a pearl.

2.

Rashi: It is a collection of gold ornaments.

3.

Ri Kara: It is a storehouse.

4.

Palgei Mayim: It is a lower level than gold.

5)

Are these literally Kodesh stones?

1.

Rashi: They are children who illuminate like gems.

2.

Rashi citing Eichah Rabah 4:1: This refers to Yoshiyah's blood. Every Revi'is of blood that exuded from every arrow 1 inserted in him, Yirmeyah buried it in its place, and said "Tishtapechnah Avnei Kodesh."

3.

Ri Kara (1-2): Yes, of the Efod and Choshen. It is not normal to dump them outside, nor for good gold to darken or a good storehouse to change its appearance. The Kohanim, who wore the Efod and Choshen with Kadosh stones, their blood was spilled outside.

4.

Palgei Mayim: Yes, of the Beis ha'Mikdash.

1

This implies that a Revi'is exuded due to each arrow. This is unlike Eichah Rabah 1:53, which says that 300 arrows pierced him! Our text of the Midrash implies that two Revi'iyos of blood came out. (PF)
