What are the implications of the words "ve'Zos ha'Terumah"?

1.

Ramban and R. Bachye #1: Refer to 25:2:2:1 and note.

2.

R. Bachye #2: Because it refers to the 'Terumah Elyonah', 1 and it is only from "Zahav va'Chesef u'Nechoshes" that the Torah begins listing the material commodities that were needed for the construction of the Mishkan.

3.

Seforno: To preclude fruit, pearls and precious stones that were not needed for the Choshen and the Eifod, which they might have otherwise been donated, and which the Gaba'im could have used to purchase whatever was needed for the Mishkan or the Bigdei Kehunah. 2

1

Refer to 25:2:2:1, 25:2:3:2 &3 and 25:2:10:1.

2

Seforno: Therefore the Torah stated clearly that it was the listed items exclusively that they were asked to donate.

2)

What is the significance of the fact that the Torah begins the lis of donations with gold?

1.

R. Bachye (in Pasuk 6): It teachs us that Hashem had completely forgiven them on the sin of the Golden Calf. 1

1

R. Bachye: Much in the same way as the Torah writes "Shor, ve'Kesev va'Eiz" (Vayikra 27:8) ? beginning the list of animals that are eligible for a Korban with 'Shor', to teach us the same lesson- See R. Bachye and Chavel's footnotes DH 'be'Ra'asam Yismach Melech'.

3)

How will we reconcile the inclusion of silver in the list of voluntary donations, despite the fact that all the silver components of the Mishkan were manufactured from the half-Shekel obligatory donation?

1.

Rashi and Ramban (in 36:3): Any silver that was donated voluntarily was used to manufacture K'lei Sharei 1 (or for Bedek ha'Bayis [repairs to the Mishkan] - Ramban).

2.

Hadar Zekenim (in 38:25): The voluntary silver went to the storehouses for Bedek ha'Bayis and needs of the Tzibur (and for the Korban Kayitz ha'Mizbe'ach 2 - Moshav Zekenim in 38:25).
