They are mixed with ideas taken from time and place, like the Nefesh understands while it is tied to the body. (This is called blended wine - it is mixed with spices. Clear understanding of the Nefesh stripped of the body is Yayin Chemar, not blended.)

What is the significance of [juice of] pomegranates?

Torah ha'Temimah citing Brachos 57a: If a Chacham sees half-pomegranates, he will acquire Torah - "Ashkecha mi'Yayin ha'Rekach me'Asis Rimoni."

Rashi: Their wine (juice) is sweet.

3.

Seforno: These are commoners' deeds.

Malbim (Melitzah): They are good deeds. In this Sefer, pomegranates always refer to 613 Mitzvos.
