Why does it say "Kodesh Min ha'Aretz Hu la'Kohanim Mesharesei ha'Mikdash Yihyeh"?

1.

Rashi: The verse should be re-arranged 1 . The excess Kadosh [over Har ha'Bayis] of the land will be to the Kohanim, who offer? The excess over the 500 of Har ha'Bayis - 12,250 in the east, and also similarly in the west, and the Mikdash is in the middle. In the north there are 4,750, and also in the south. This Terumah is more Kadosh than the land.

2.

Radak: I said that 25,000 by 10,000 will be Kodesh, Terumah from the land ? it will be for Kohanim.

3.

Malbim: It is more Kadosh than the rest of the land, since it is special for Kohanim who are close, to serve Hashem.

1

Also, we add the word Mosar (excess). (PF)

2)

What do we learn from "v'Hayah Lahem Makom l'Vatim"?

1.

Radak: Har ha'Bayis is Mekudash for the needs of the Mikdash, which receives Kedushah from the Heichal 1 , i.e. the Bayis, Heichal and Dvir. The remainder will be place for them and their houses 2 , including 50 Amos of Migrash, without houses or crops.

2.

Malbim: They will not take it for an inheritance to make fields and vineyards, like the Leviyim. Rather, they will build houses to dwell in.

1

Perhaps this should say 'me'Hachil' (from what it contains. -PF)

2

Perhaps 'l'Vatim' is a printing mistake; it should be deleted. Or, in place of ul'Vateihem it should say 'veli'Vneihem' (and for their sons). However, why should he say so ? also their sons are Leviyim! (PF)

3)

What is the meaning of "u'Mikdash la'Mikdash"?

1.

Rashi: The 500 by 500 in the middle is sanctified for the need of the Mikdash.

2.

Malbim: It will be preparation for Kedushas ha'Mikdash. Via this Kedushah, Har ha'Bayis will be Kodesh Kodoshim.
