1)

Who is commanded to tell them?

1.

Radak: The command is not to anyone in particular. It is like "Re'eh Rei'ach Bni" (Bereishis 27:27), "Kol Omer Kera", "Imru l'Nimharei Lev" (Yeshayah 40:6, 35:4) and similar verses.

2.

Malbim: Yirmeyah should tell them.

2)

Who are "la'Melech vela'Gevirah"?

1.

Rashi: They are Yehoyachin and his mother. Radak - they were exiled first, with the Giborim, ha'Charash veha'Masger.

3)

What is the meaning of "Hashpilu Shevu"?

1.

Radak #1: It is as if it says 'sit in lowliness.' "Hashpilu" is Po'el Omed (the action applies only to the subject), like "Hishpilu va'Tomer Gevah" (Iyov 22:29).

2.

Radak: "Hashpilu" is Po'el Yotzei (it acts on others). Lower your chairs and sit on the ground.

3.

Malbim: Lower your levels and be submissive to Nebuchadnetzar; do not fight.

4)

What is the meaning of "Yarad Mar'ashoseichem"?

1.

Rashi: Your heads descended.

2.

Radak: Your kingdom descended. It says Yarad (singular) because no authority will remain. Even in exile, they did not treat them like kings. They put Yehoyachin in jail, like a commoner.

3.

Malbim: What you rested your heads on, i.e. the part of the country that is your primary support, already descended and was destroyed.

5)

What is "Ateres Tif'artechem"?

1.

Radak: The matter (Mar'ashoseichem) is repeated in different words. It says Yarad (masculine), even though Mar'ashoseichem and Ateres are feminine, for they refer to something from your head. The same applies to "Ki Yihyeh Na'arah" (Devarim 22:23), "Ye'aseh Melachah", "Asher Kamohu Lo Nihyasah" (Shemos 31:15, 11:6) and similar verses. Like this we could also explain why Yarad is singular, but what we wrote (because no authority will remain) is proper.

2.

Malbim: The officers, ha'Charash veha'Masger.
