Why does it say "Zeh ha'Davar Asher Herim Yado"?

1.

Rashi: This was his rebuke.

2.

Radak citing Sanhedrin 101b: He removed his Tefilin in front of Shlomo.

What is wrong with building the Milo?

1.

Rashi (from Sanhedrin 101b): He closed the opening of Ir David, which was open in back of the Milo. He told him - your father made openings in the wall for Olei Regalim to enter, and you closed it to house Bas Pharaoh's slaves?!

2.

Radak: (a) It was a place [for the nation] to gather. People were displeased that he built it, but they feared to say so. Yaravam was haughty, and said so; he also said 'Shlomo' without calling him 'king'. (b) David made a hole in wall of Tziyon, so if Yisrael would rebel against him, he could flee from there without their knowledge. So is the custom nowadays of Arab kings. Shlomo closed it. Yaravam said, see his arrogance - he does not fear rebellion!

3.

Malbim: This was not Yaravam's rebuke of Shlomo. He could rebuke him for his Nochri wives and their Bamos! Rather, because Shlomo built great buildings and closed the breaches in the walls of Yerushalayim, Yaravam had the audacity to rebel 1 .

Malbim did not explain how this gave to him audacity to rebel. Perhaps it is because he was appointed over these projects - but Malbim's words do not connote like this. (PF)
