Rashi: He prophesied to David that Shlomo will reign after him (Shmuel I, 22:9).

Malbim: He, and all mentioned in this verse, knew that David intended to make Shlomo king, so Adoniyahu was rebelling against the desire of their king David.

Who are Shim'i, Re'i and David's Giborim?

Metzudas David: Perhaps Shim'i is Shim'i ben Gera 1 , Re'i is Chushai ha'Archi, and David's Giborim are Adino, Elazar and Shamah, who were always with David (Shmuel II, 23:8-11).
