What is the meaning of "va'Yamas Kol Mikneh Mitzrayim"?

1.

Ramban (to 9:3), Rashi (to 14:7); Targum Onkelos and Targum Yonasan: It means that all the animals belonging to the Egyptians died. 1 Refer to 9:3:1:2.

2.

Hadar Zekenim: It means all the animals that died belonged to the Egyptians, but not that all their animals died. 2

1

We find that the Egyptians had animals afterwards (See 9:10 and 9:19). It is possible that they subsequently purchased them from Yisraelim, or that the G-d-fearing Egyptians sold their animals cheaply to Yisraelim before the plague, and bought them back afterwards for the full price! (PF). Ha'amek Davar (to 9:7) - Even if an Egyptian's animal was merely rented to a Jew, who was benefitting from its wool and milk in the short term, it survived the plague. Also refer to 14:7:1:1, 14:7:1:2 and notes.

2

Hadar Zekenim: Because then, it ought to have said "Kol Miknecha"! Moreover, "Dever" implies only some animals. Also, we find that they still had animals by Makas Barad! It must therefore mean that all their animals in the field would die; whereas the animals of those who feared Hashem and took their animals into the house would live.
