What are the implications of "Ki Am Kadosh Atah" at the beginning of the Pasuk?

Ramban: It is particularly inappropriate for an Am Segulah 1 to stray after other gods.

Seforno: Since we are a holy nation, it is not befitting to desecrate our Kedushah by bearing children who are Pasul (spiritually defected).
