What do we learn from- "Madu'a Basi v'Ein Ish,Karasi v'Ein Oneh"?

1.

Brachos 6b: If Hashem comes to the Beis ha'Keneses and does not find 10 men (at the time for prayer), He gets angry.

2.

Rashi: Why did I come to get close to you, and not one of you turns to Me?!

3.

Radak: You are delaying the Ge'ulah. I am ready to accept you in Teshuvah, if you will repent. Why did I come, and no one answers Me?

4.

Malbim: Why did I come, and there is no man? I did not despise your mother, and I did not sell you for money. It is easy for you to return to Me. Once I came, immediately you should have ran after Me to seek My face!

2)

How did Hashem call?

1.

Radak: "Shuvu Elai v'Ashuvah Aleichem" (Mal'achi 3:7).

2.

Malbim: I started to appease you.

3)

Who does not answer?

1.

Radak: Not one of you answers.

4)

Why does it say "ha'Katzor Katzrah Yadi mi'Pedus"?

1.

Radak: Did you think that the length of your Galus is due to My limited ability? The reason I did not redeem you until now is due to you - you did not repent. The coming and calling are the Nevi'im's words. Hashem accepts Teshuvah whenever they call to Him with a full heart.

2.

Malbim: I did not sell you for money, so I can redeem you [easily].

5)

Why does it say "v'Im Ein Bi Ko'ach Lehatzil"?

1.

Malbim: If you will say that those who bought you do not want to accept redemption money for you, and will keep you via force - do I lack strength to save you via force?!

6)

What is the meaning of "Hen b'Ga'arasi"?

1.

Radak: How did you think that you were not redeemed until now due to My limited ability?! I dry the sea via My rebuke, like I did at Yam Suf - "va'Yig'ar b'Yam Suf va'Yecherav" (Tehilim 106:9). The rebuke sent the east wind, which made the sea dry.

2.

Radak (3): The verse depicts the abundant good of the nations as seas and rivers. Hashem will dry them, i.e. cease their good due to the evil that they did to Yisrael, like I explained "v'Samti Neharos la'Iyim v'Agamim Ovish" (refer to 42:15:1:1).

3.

Malbim: My rebuke alone dries the sea and rivers. (Surely I have strength to save you via force!)

7)

When did Hashem make rivers into a desert?

1.

Radak: When I want, like I did to the Yarden. I dried it until Bnei Yisrael passed. From the place they passed until the sea - "veha'Yoredim Al Yam ha'Aravah Yam ha'Melach Tamu Nichrasu" (Yehoshua 3:16). It says rivers, because Yarden is one river from two rivers that flow into it. It says also "Atah Hovashta Naharos Eisan" (Tehilim 74:15, plural).

8)

Why does it say "Tiv'ash Degasam"?

1.

Radak: The fish in the river died when the water ceased, and it stank.

2.

Malbim (2-3): First the fish is ruined due to lack of water, and afterwards it dies of thirst 1 . The Nimshal is, He will destroy the lands of Nochrim that are tumultuous like the sea, and their officers, who roar like rivers. The fish in them, i.e. the Nochrim who live in these lands, will be finished off. This is not due to the Ma'arachah, rather, when Shamayim is apt to send rain of Brachah to those who serve Hashem.

1

Seemingly, it dies due to lack of air! Fish breathe only the air absorbed in water! (PF)
