What is "bi'T'em Chamra"?

1.

Rashi: Due to wine (intoxication). Malbim - no king would do so, to profane Klei Kodesh of any god. It was repulsive to nations at the time. He was like a drunken commoner 1 , unlike a king.

1

Vashti said that he drank k'Neged 1000 men, and did not get drunk (Megilah 12b)! Perhaps she lied, to add insult to Achashverosh, who gets drunk easily. Or, normally Belshatzar would drink so much and remain sober; this was an exception. (PF)

(b) He said to bring the Kelim that were taken from the Heichal (he did not say Heichal Hashem), as if they were taken from a commoner's palace. In verse 3, the author says that they were taken from "Heichal Di Veis Eloka." (c) Normally, the king's wives were inside, and do not come to the officers' party, like we find with Vashti.
