What do we learn from "Lo Yetzei me'Afar Aven"?
Rashi: Man is not stricken for no reason, from the earth. Aven is an expression of breakage.
Malbim: One who makes his root suddenly, via Aven (extortion), it will not [sprout and] leave the earth.
Why does it add "ume'Adamah Lo Yitzmach Amal"?
Devar Eliyahu: Aven is counsel. Amel is thought. Counsel is via others, and is carried out in deed. Thought is potential, without deed. Every Chidush in the world is via Adamah. The Reisha taught that Aven (counsel that is carried out) is not carried out via Afar. (NOTE: Perhaps he explains the verse to teach how Resha'im's intents will not be carried out, even via the means that normally do carry them out! - PF) Adamah, which is potential, will not sprout Amel (thought in potential).
Malbim: One who plants via Amal (evil intent, not only will it not leave the earth -) it will not even sprout in the ground.
