Rashi: It is the eastern gate of Ezras Nashim; Ezras Nashim is called Chatzer ha'Chitzonah, because it is in front of Ezras Yisrael [Malbim ? which is Chatzer ha'Penimis. The wall surrounded Ezras Nashim on all four sides.]

Radak: It is the eastern gate of Har ha'Bayis.

Rashi: The mountain slopes upward. From the bottom of the Cheil until Ezras Nashim are 12 steps, like was taught (Midos 2:3) 'the Cheil was inside [the wall of Har ha'Bayis]. It was 10 Amos wide; there were 12 steps there.'

Radak: Har ha'Bayis was higher than the place outside of it. Malbim - the mountain was sloped. They leveled it, and made steps. It does not say here how many steps there were. We cannot learn from Bayis Sheni ? it was different in several ways! We must say that here it relies on what it teaches about the north and south ? there were seven steps.

Rashi: It is the Mezuzah (wall at the side of the opening) of the gate ¹ .

Radak (6-7): This is the outer Mezuzah; it was six Amos thick. There was also an inner Mezuzah six Amos thick [and an Amah in between]; the total thickness was 13. ²

Rashi: It is six Amos. It covered the entire thickness of the wall, which was six Amos (verse 5).

Rashi: It is the second Mezuzah ? one was north of the opening, and the other was south of the opening ¹ .

Malbim: There was an outer Mezuzah six Amos thick, and an inner Mezuzah six Amos thick, and an Amah in between; the total thickness was 13. This was both in the north and in the south; the verse did not need to teach that they are the same, for the thickness of the wall was the same.
