Why does it teach that Tzidkiyah sent for Yirmeyah?

Malbim: There were three reasons why it was proper for the Am's situation to improve. (a) The king sent for the Navi to pray for the nation. This helps to nullify the decree - "Ya'an Ki Nichna Lefanai" (Melachim I, 21:29). Refer to 37:4:1:2, 37:5:1:1 for the other two reasons.
